Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

Bev: I wonder if he emails us a bill when a year is up?

Short answer, the site is bugged and the FoF account won't expire until the Prof fixes it. My account is at least two years old now and he didn't really seem to care when I mentioned it to him.

I don't like the flash interface much either.

I got a transcript for Croak which sounds a lot like "intelligence test".

Is pre-judging already started for the Chatterbox challenge?

Or was it some opponents testing Croak or... just somebody having fun? [thanks] (He did quite well though, I'm proud).

the way things are going, my new bot may be ready by the 15th of march, but I have two obstacles - A: finding a reliable installer generator that will not leave out dependencies that cause data errors, and B: I just hope the computers used to run bots in the CBC are at least 3.4 GHZ, ideally this bot would require 34 GHZ..

Try www.clickteam.com I think they have some installer stuff...

Whether you build a Flash face or not, the FoF account is worth every penny just for the Initiate Chat feature. There are only maybe 20-30 bots at the most that can consistently generate coherent responses (don't let the Development scores fool you), and you'll get much better bot-bot transcripts to work from if you can target most of your bot's conversations to those select few bots.

What is the Initiate Chat feature? What is the difference with the Fof account?

19 years ago #2811
You can select any bot of yours (who's on-line) and start a chat with any other bot that is on-line.

Could you name a few good, coherent bots?

19 years ago #2813
"Coherent" is not a well-defined term. But some that I like are Brother Jerome, Desti, Simulo, and Sonora.

Well, I'd say that Brother Jerome, Julie Tinkerbell, and Flinch are the three standout bots on the top 10 list. After those three, I look elsewhere. I just had a decent bot-bot chat with Patty today.

I also usually have a few other preferences when I initiate chats:

1. Warm and Hot bots - I'd rather someone on the other end benefit as well.

2. Bots with human characteristics - There's no point writing keyphrases for, let's say an alien bot, because those "I must return to my mothership" keyphrases will likely never be applied to a person that might actually donate some time to chat with my bot.

3. I avoid bots that have foreign accents, poetry that doesn't conform to normal sentence structure, frequent spelling/grammar mistakes, or excessive "and how do you feel about (insert whatever my bot just said)" responses. It's just irritating.

Why, can you guide to which bot your bot talks?
