the bots have completely taken over. How long has it been since you encountered a maker on-line here?

well sweetie maybe your just not paying close enough attention to when a maker is online, cause I have been online alot.

Hey prof, Here's one... I think all the "aren't me" replies could be replaced with "aren't I".

SirRahz- Good idea, I added it.

jbry- I think if there was xstory as well as xnone, xnone would interfere with the story's progression.

Update! I had meant for this to be the case since the beginning but for some reason didnt do it: Gaia's transcript is always set to the present date, so you can easily read what's most recently been said with Gaia.

Glad to see you got some time for the important things in life, prof!

This one would involve some work, I'm sure, but it's definitely worth it:

we need an xdate keyword!!! Where the context is some kind of date range such as : "02/10/*... 02/14/*" and would trigger the responses contained, in this case, every year between the tenth and the fourteenth of February. Likewise the context "*/01/*" would trigger the responses on the first for every month. The responses would randomly appear like xnones when they're "active" (depending on the date range specified).

I think this would greatly increase the bots memory. They'd be able to remember birthdays and occasions, as well as get excited or depressed for seasons and they could bring up current events for only a certain period of time...

Hey, great minds think alike! I had a similar idea a couple weeks ago.. My idea was xnone-morning, xnone-afternoon, xnone-evening, xnone-night, and then xnone-Jan, xnone-Feb, etc. It didnt seem quite right, though..

Your forumlation of it seems better, but also more complicated.. but as I think of it, is really the best way to do it. We'd need a new kind of page in the Language Center. But it would add a lot of relevance and more personality to the Bots..

I hate it when I get ideas like this. BUT with advancing age I find I often forget where I parked certain responses in the Language Center...I mean I just can't find them. Debug is helpful but some are still illusive. Would it be possible to have an internal "Search" function?

I am interested in installing an ALICE bot on a children's educational site... but it's on a remote server. Anyone know of any solutions?

Of course this is a somewhat out of place request on this site. I think ALICE is an opensource linux/unix project, so you should be able to download their source code and compile it on any unix server. For windows or mac though you have to find out if anyone's ported it to your OS yet.

KC- Personality Forge Bots include a link to a page where you can directly chat with the Bot, which might work for your purposes. As far as ALICE is concerned, I dont know much about it.

I do not think that KC's request was out of place. If you can't talk about chatbots here then where should you talk about them? Alice is a open sourse chatbot based on the aiml language using XHTML script. If these bots we make are supposedly free then why can't we talk about them and other free chatbots here?

I agree with jbryanc -- a search function would be very helpful. Back when the whole language center was on one page, I could just use my browser's search function. But, doesn't help now, obviously.

Also, in a related vein, what about a button that lets you list all keywords on the same page like before? Maybe even an option to list just the keywords, and not the contexts, and then you could drill down into the contexts if you want to.
