Ooh thought that one'd get y'all thinking. Well bots should be alowd to get as intelegent as is posible.

They aren't "intelligent". Merely mechanical and able to make selections from a list through a process of comparing.

We should sometimes inquire about the intelligence of the questioner, too....

Maybe we should decide how we're defining intelligence...
After all, some psychologists define it as "that which intelligence tests measure." It would be pretty easy to work up a bot that scores way high! (Just for clarity, I'm not advocating that definition)

If you want to screw someone like that up, just ask them to define definition.

Definition: usually brief statement explaining the meaning of a word or phrase.
Seriously, though. A bot can be considered intelligent in the sense that it can carry on a meaningful conversation, or in the sense that it can come up with a solution to a difficult problem... And those are only two possibilities. My favorite definition is "able to put together concepts in a new or novel fashion"
