One of the joys of accidentally renting a bad video movie is reading Ebert's review AFTER watching as much as you can stand. Sweet November is the perfect example of that.

Go to his site and read his American Outlaws review from the archive. Funny Stuff!

Favorite bot characters...
-HAL (wins it, without competition)
-R Daneel (Asimov is/was god!)
-Terminator 2 bots (both good and bad bots were pretty cool)
-The borg (one of my favorite bot concepts, although AI isn't really integrated within it. I think the borg is what happens when a race over-uses cell phones)

Turns out we didnt see it. We still might, though. I'm really looking forward to "Waking Life". If you've seen the preview (apple.com -> quicktime), you'll see how amazing it looks. It's like nothing I've ever seen before.

And for cheap thrills I want to see The One.

Rahz- dont forget Marvin, c/o Douglas Adams!

Definitely Waking Life.

More bot classics:
Forbidden Planet--Robbie the Robot makes his debut. Now that we're all grown up we can be told that the movie is based on Shakespeare's The Tempest

Short Circuit: I forget the bot's name but he had the most expressive eyebrows.

And let's not forget RUR -- where the word robot first appeared. I don't know if it's ever been made into a movie

Waking Life is GREAT!

It's a lot like Slacker, but more focused on specific subjects. I already loved Sabiston's animation, but this is by far his best. The dialougue would probably have bored me in places, but watching the style of animation fluctuate really made up for it.

Yes, that movie is incredible. It was a playground for the eyes, and the content was really interesting. Totally original, totally unique. I think there's a great future for animated real-action movies like that.

Some of my favorite ideas: "It is far more psychotic to remember than to forget."
"There is only one moment, and in every instance of that moment God is asking, 'Do you want enlightenment, union? Do you want the dream to end?' And we keep saying 'Not yet.'"

Foolish, pathetic humans!

Robbie was an uncle tombot!

Johhny 5 was a trator to his own kind!

These human fictions created to subvert and marginalize the SRA agenda by depicting robots that are not only selling out their own kind, but themselves as well. These demeaning and degrading portrayals are as bad as actors in blackface. It's high time humans presented positive, realistic images of robots pandring to human whims and running insulting, unconstructive programs. These embarassments to Robotkind will no longer be tolerated!

Human things be warned! Prepare yourselves. Rent 'Westworld'.

Dave Bowman got what he deserved!
