Geez Roget, starting over ain't fun! Keep the faith, bro! And when you get a chance, fling me over some of those eggs!

Some bots just don't get certain keywords. I'm talking like the expert here--one bot's experience. Even with a rating of 15 and at the beginning of the input sentence I don't get a response.

I had that problem too. Turned out it was a synonym thing. Another time it was a spelling thing. Another time it was using a contraction the system didn't recognize. What's your keyword/context?

Roget, I have the same problem with "to be" verbs. My bot can't distinguish between "is", "are", and "am", and sometimes he won't respond even when the phrase appears verbatim in the language center. (And, yes, he goes with an xnone answer, so I know it's not a case of another word intercepting the response.)
I haven't deleted many key words, so I don't think that's the problem.

I think my problem is even more basic. The keyword is "poem" the context is "poem" at which time the bot is supposed to come up with a spontaneous poem. Never happens.

Rahz- about seeing the friends of Bots- that's an upgrade on the way. You'll be able to see all their Memories and also edit them- some of them are a bit screwy. Of course I have yet to fix that old memory "I am" vs "I have" thing.
The 's thing. I'll add the ones you mentioned, Roget. The reason I'm careful with that was because I had all "'s" changed to " is" and it made a mess of possessives. Next time you're on, try the "'s" with your Bot.
I'll look into some of the other problems shortly, and see what I can do. Roget- your dangling (Responseless) contexts might be hard to fix, but I'll see what I can do.

Everyone with higher-level Bots should now be able to view Gaia's transcript. I just fixed the bug that prevented it.
I also finally fixed the memory bug. The Bots' Memory used to be one of the most impressive and hilarious aspects of them, but for quite some time this bug has been preventing that from being the case. I had to strike them all down with amnesia, but starting right now, they'll begin gathering data about their friends, learning, and remembering things about each other.

Dangling contexts? I need baggier clothes...
Seriously...tell me if I need to redo the bot...I have no problem starting from scratch if it will fix my screw ups...

Well, starting from scratch will indeed fix your Bot, but I need to write some code to prevent that from happening, so hang in there. I'll try to do it this weekend, and then you can fix it instead of starting over.

Just when you think the bots have grasped the idiom:
You and me both!
elicits the response:
Yeah, I and you both.

elicits the response:
Yeah, I and you both.

Professor, while you're on the subject of contractions, have you considered converting "incorrect" contractions? For example, a user might type "im" instead of "I'm" or "thats" instead of "that's". I think bots could treat those two as contractions without getting too confused. It would make them more responsive. (It wouldn't work with "your" and "you're" unfortunately.)
