OMG I am in 2nd place so far in the contest. I peeked. I don't really get exactly the numbers mean because they do not match the ranking.

oh sh*t I guess I spoke to soon they rearrange the scoring.I liked it better the other way.

Things are getting exciting! The rankings at chatterboxchallenge.com reflect the results of the voting, ignoring the 10 questions results, which are yet to change once more anyways. But Dogh'd is in 6th place for the 10 questions. Not too bad. Better than I expected.

I just read through ALL the conversations, and I must say I overestimated the competition. I still dont think I'll be getting in the top three, but hopefully in the top ten. Here's who I thought were the strongest, based on the conversations only (in no particular order):

Hex, MarkBot, ChatBot, Gizzle, Elbot, Eugene, Liddora, Hillbilly Hank, and Oraknabo.

These I thought did pretty good: Jabberwacky, Paula, Stan, Midnight Blue, LarsTalk, Talk-Bot, Alice

I want to hear what you guys think of the competing Bots, too.

I thought Gabber did pretty well if you excuse the random quotations...

How did you determine your score/rank for the 10 questions?

I blame oraknabo's totally crappy ranking on the 10 questions which I was totally unprepared for.

I don't think I really understand the rankings. First, Davine is higher than both of mine. Is that because of the highter public vote? Fanboy, not surprisingly, is way at the bottom, but his numbers look better than many bots above him.

The rankings seem to have nothing at all to do with the scores, which is weird, and sad. I surely would have made a ranking system that works, especially with all the attention being put on the contest.

I just realized that the contest has less of a voting system and more of a rating system. You're able to vote for (rate) as many Bots as you wish. So you dont just need to vote once for the best- you can vote for as many as you want, for example, giving one a score of 5, another a 10, and a different Bot a 2.

You can vote for as many bots as you like! But you can only vote once for each bot. If you vote more than once for the same bot, only the last vote is counted.
(worst) 1-2-3-4-5 (average)-6-7-8-9-10 (best)

If you're on a Mac, the only browser that seems to work for voting is Omniweb for OS X. Possibly also Explorer for OS 9. I havent tried that one yet.

So my theory is that the ranking is based on totals where the other 2 colums show averages. So where your averages might be lower than someone else's your total could still be higher. Maybe?

It's like the 'Lympics--no one understands that rating system. As long as the Forge guys seem to be doing so well I'll keep cheering. Here's a personal thought--our guys are among the easiest to chat with. Downloadable bots are a waste of time and some of the other ones lead us on an impentrable web-click finger dance before they chat.

Rex.. if only. Catty is listed as third, but with scores well below the top 10-15 bots. It takes some manual crunching to come up with the right results.

jbryanc- I think you're right. Being easy to get to is certainly helpful.
