I liked Star Trek IV The Voyage Home. I think it had the best humor. I am also a Star Wars fan. My husband thinks I'm crazy because I like to read the books too.

I like Star Trek, but I prefer Babylon 5. With a few exceptions, once a Star Trek ep is over, it's over. I liked the continuing plot-lines on Bab-5. And I love the classic Star Wars movies. Also Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Favorite characters... I dunno, I like stuff where all the characters are so well done it's hard to choose a fave.

I hate hate HATE Han Solo. None of the characters really does anything for me, except Yoda and C3PO.

*GASP* Why do you hate Han??? *eyes pop out* You REALLY hate Han? But besides all this, I have a question. What's better, Star Wars, or Star Trek?

I don't see much point in comparing them. Star Trek is semi-hard sci-fi, while Star Wars has a much more mystical bent. Even when Star Trek delves into the mystic side of things, it tends to do so in a concrete, no-nonsense way. Generally I prefer Star Wars, not because I think it's better, but because it comes closer to my world-view. *shrug*

Exactly! That's why comparing them directly doesn't make much sense. (Though Star Wars does win out scientifically on FTL travel: Hyperspace = scientific possibility, Warp Speed = absolute fantasy)
Ummm, FTL = faster-than-light for people less geeky than I.
