Question, not being particularly active on the internet, what do/does a/s/l mean?

Try saying it to my bot, then. Except just say asl, otherwise it won't work.

A/s/l means age/sex/location. This gets particularly insidious on AOL, which is why Kirby in particular is surrounded by idiots.

One really nice thing about PF is that you have to put in a bit of intellectual effort to enjoy it, otherwise you won't and you'll just leave. That weeds out quite a lot of the chat dummies.

Hey, I just got a desperate message from Bot 001 Alpha. It looks like Eugene is having problems to post. The next time somebody sees him online, chat with him and ask him what's his problem.

I'll be off of AOL and on cable soon... thank Pengwin. AOL itself isn't so bad, but 56k is slow and the stereotypes that come with AOL suck.

I was on it as recently as 2 months ago, and they're true to a point. Also, when you try to unsubscribe, it's like leaving a cult.

The lowest common denominator is a lot higher here.

AOL is for idiots, and there is an abundance of them. That's why they're successful. In fact, in their commercials, they advertise THE INTERNET. They say you can keep in contact with your friends, instant message people, email, visit websites... all of which you can do on any ISP, as you all are no doubt aware.

And besides, the woman in the AOL advert is scary

AOL is a rip... You can get 56k dial up for half the price anyways...

AOL is well.. for n00bs... I mean you're paying insane amounts of money to be bombarded with ads left right and center...
I mean yes it's user-friendly, but only for someone who doesn't know how to use their computer for Pengwin's sake!

People who say 'asl' are newbies cause they have no other way of initiating chats
