Also for some reason whenever I talk to a bit they call me by my username constantly when they should say you or their name when they should say I.

How you develop a bot - see The Book of AI (http://www.personalityforge.com/book.php)
How the Development level is calcualted - The Professor doesn't reveal the exact formula, afaik, but as a general rule we can say, the more different answers a bot has, the higher the development level.
As to the funny behavior of the bots, see Bot Holiday ("Why Is My Bot Speaking In An Accent?") in the FAQs at http://www.personalityforge.com/faq.php#14 and/or the little hint at the top right of the News page. And the top of every chat window.

Yep, it's "Hulk day." Which means all the bots are talking like Hulk does. Or at least most of the bots are.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if there's a way to turn off the auto-log off thing when you are inactive. Some times, I'll be "in the zone" and typing away, filling in responses and having a blast. Then all of sudden when I'm all done, it tells me that I need to "log-in" and everything I typed is gone forever.
UGH! It's so infuriating! I guess I'll just type up responses in Word and copy and paste them or something next time...

Well, as we can read on the page http://www.personalityforge.com/newsall.php, the Prof set the session timeout up to 40 minutes on May 24, 2012, but it seems to have gone down to 10 minutes or so since.
Tester323, depending on your browser, it might help to log in in a different window, and then use the Back function of your browser in the window where you worked on your bot. Or, you open a PF page in a different brwoser window (and log in there, if you aren't any longer).
There is also the way to export your bot's mindfile and work on it offline, then re-import the modified file. (I personally use Notepad++ for this.) Working offline has at least one further advantage (additionally to no more problems with session timeouts): you don't have to double every backslash in the keyphrase you're working on and in every single response to that keyphrase.

Well..... the intended way here at the Personality Forge would be, you create a bot that is as much like you as possible and send your cousin the link to it, and/or your cousin creates a bot that is as much like him/her as possible and let him/her send the link to that bot to you.
If one of you encountered issues with a bot, you could address each other by the built-in chat function, just like you'd talk to a bot here.
If you want a direct online chat from human to human, I'd recommend any human-to-human chatroom on the web, or download your own chat software and run your own server.

Hey guys! I have some basic questions that I might of mis-read in the FAQs or book of A.I. Sorry about this!
1. Does clearing cookies, cache, etc., have an effect on me or my bot? I feel like everything is hardwired into the Personality Forge's database, but I'm just asking this JUST IN CASE.
2. Is there a way to back up your bot? Another JUST IN CASE question. I probably overlooked this too, sorry!

You should download your bots language center often. There was a server failure once that lost a lot of info.
Cleaning cookies cache etc won't effect your bot.

Hi everyone! I'm new here, but quite ambitious nevertheless
I have 2 questions today:
1) Is there any way to search existing forum posts to see if my question has already been asked/answered?
2) The "Book of AI" section says that I can enter
tags into my responses and the HTML will be rendered. I tried this in my "Seek" response; but after I enter the text, all HTML tags disappear and no breaks are rendered. Is this a known bug, or is there some other trick to it? Thanks!!

Ha... funny... in my post above, I actually typed the break tag < br > and it became a new line there. Yet it doesn't seem to be working in my Seek response...
