I have been here for a day so far... And I've already made one bot! His name is Aldroon. Nobody has chatted with him besides me though.

I'm having a bit of a problem understanding how xfavorite works...can somebody give me an example of a suitable response to...say...What is your favorite band?

Just fill it in according to your bot's personality. I think I made Spike's the Ramones or the Sex Pistols, whereas Ruthie likes kids' songs. If in doubt, make something up or throw in a plug in.

What I mean...Is I'm not really sure how it works.
Would I put "My favorite band is metallica" or something like "specific = band, type = metallica"?

Nevermind, I figured it out...

For favorites that you want to actually give your bot, you can have a keyphrase eg "your favorite x" and response "my favorite x is y".
Then for everything else there is xfavorite. In there I have things like "My favourite (type) is (specific)" which will choose a random favorite each time.

And how long does it take for my bot to be able to talk to other users? I won't have a very good idea of what kind of keyphrases to give my bot unless I can see what he lacks through other people having conversations with him...

The more you work on your bot and the more time you spend here the more your bot will chat. If you get a Friends of the Forge account you can set up bot chats.
