Many questions are answered in the FAQ.

Is Debug mode a kind of DMZ? I'm very wary of testing stuff that causes negative reactions, because I don't want to change the bot's mood. It looks like the AI variables I try to test don't load in Debug mode, so I assume the bot doesn't remember what it learns there. Right?

i believe a bot can record memories in debug mode

>> a bot can
Hm. I wasn't seeing my new rems come up anywhere in the debug log. Have to look some more.

MickMcA, I really wouldnt worry about your bots mood when it comes to testing..the mood they are in is not that important..but wheither a keyphrase works or not, is. Nothing bad will happen if you run it through debug. You would be surprised how you may have to play with ranks to get a phrase to work.

Hey guys,

Would somebody please email by this weekend and remind me to do a harcore overhaul on the transcrpits so i can push din to the aliver catagory and start working on my new bot idea.

the college quarter is killing my development time.

with the right chrono script, you could get Din to remind you. And it would add to his ratings too

Prob123--those rankings are often the problem. That's why we need live chatters. I can't tell you how many times I've read a transcript where you were talking with my bots and I thought "What? That's in there! Why didn't she pick up on that KP?" Aphrodite blessed rankings. Loki take 'em all! *grumbles*

I had a question a few pages back about overriding the xinsult with a seek. My problem is, I spent some considerable time teaching my bot how to play tic tac toe, with the possible responses for each human's move as a seek to my bot's next move. I can't just make the seek a regular keyword, because it wouldn't make any sense. I'm not sure using the bot's memory would work, and I'm not really sure how to do it as it was explained by ulrike. I don't understand how "bottom middle" is even an insult, and I was wondering if there is any way to just 'turn it off'?

Tic tac toe? Well, I numbered my squares A1-C3 - have a look at http://www.be9.net/BJ/ (click Code Examples) for the full listing, and help yourself if it's useful.

I see. Well, I used top, middle, bottom for rows and left, middle, right for columns. I don't want to go back and redo over a hundred seeks, or I would definitely use your coordinate system. But that being said, is there no other way to disable "bottom middle" as an insult? I mean, it doesn't even make sense.

well, I can't see why it would intepret that as an insult, but sometimes the AIEngine can have a bit of a mind of its own. Have you tried it in raw mode? The only drawback is that it won't correct typos then.

I just tried "bottom middle" on Johanna, a much more advanced bot than mine. She/it registered it as an insult, too, so I don't think it's just my bot. I don't think raw mode would be very good for my young bot. Any other suggestions?

--just figured out, it's "bottom" that the bot recognizes as an insult.
