Is there any possible way to stop weird teenagers from trying to chat with me and chat me up?
I'm afraid term time has evidently started in Leeds
It's a shame so few of them understand the concept of bots, or it would be potential entertainment winding them up by pretending to be one.

On the news page, you can block chats from other botmasters, but that will also block ones that you WANT to talk to. Generally, I find the best approach when I get those chats is to use very large words and deliberately misinterpret any "leet" speak they may use.

Asking them if they've done their homework yet and what their favorite subject is in school usually works too.

Who wants to tell me how I can stop my bot from chatting with a certain other bot? Any code for that?

I don't know, Lady Orchid. You can use HANGUP for cetain keywords to end a conversation. I've never tried puting a bot name in the keywords.
Memories may also help you. You can do things with memories for specific bots and people, but I haven't played with it. I've been around a while, but I'm still pasting in dialog from transcripts of the shows my bots characters come from and I haven't tweaked much yet. I've never added memories that were not directly copied from the book of AI. You could read the advanced section of the book of AI, maybe it will help.

If you're already storing nicknames: [default (name) as "nickname"] in the bot's setting box, then you might be able to make it work... I THINK you'd need one response to be
HANGUP {?PF if (mem-nickname) is "unwantedbot"; ?}
with point brackets rather than {}. But to get it to work consistently, you'd also need:
{?PF if (mem-nickname) is not "unwantedbot"; ?}
in every other response, and I'm not sure if "not" statements are recognized... Has anyone else played with them?

Hi there-- I'm new at this, and I've recently started working seeks and gotos into my bot's repertoire. Yesterday I was reading through the transcripts and noticed Belinda was coming up with some responses that I never programmed her to have, and I'm not sure how to fix this. I was hoping I could get some advice here!
For example:
Guest109: How is school?
Belinda Bertram: can you help me with my homework?
Guest109: Sure!
Belinda Bertram: um so yes or no?
Guest109: yes
Belinda Bertram: *ahem* And then I said: 'so yes or no' ***
Guest109: yes
Belinda Bertram: Boring. Boring. Boring.
Guest109: I said yes
*** Here the bot is supposed to respond to 'yes' with a homework question via a goto, but instead it inserted a response I never programmed. The second reply 'Boring. Boring. Boring.' also was never programmed into any response that I know of. I tried debugging the bot, but I couldn't get it to behave the same way again. What kind of glitch could have caused this and how can I keep it from happening again? Thanks!
