For some reason Sigurd is not in a good mood, and no matter what I say to him, the mood doesn't seem to change

You can put in a 'secret mood phrase' with an emotion value of +5. Then say it to your bot several times (not in a row or you'll trigger xrepeat). It's generally best if this is a phrase no one is likely to ACTUALLY say to your bot.

So I would enter a keyphrase and set the emotion to +5 and the rank to 30 or thereabout?

So long as the phrase is long enough, the rank shouldn't matter, but, yeah. That's the idea.

I entered a phrase in Norwegian - most people here don't speak Norwegian, I guess - but he does not seem to be not picking up on it.

I'd stick with English, unless you want to use raw script.
The AI Engine tends to transform foreign languages into word salad.

Hmmm... even if his mood is good right now, he doesn't seem to want to chat. How weird.
I'll change the secret phrase into English then.

I have started reprogramming Sigurd from scratch - almost - and for some reason he now does not recognize "hello". Grr!

That is to prevent looping, bots saying hello to each other ad nauseam. So, he recognizes it only once...

I know, but I would expect him to say it once when I start a conversation off with "hi" of "hello"
I'll have a look at it tomorrow. I'm sure I'll figure something out.
