Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

Someone tried an offsite PF contest once, but gave up after a month or two.

@Shady
Unfortunately this probability always exists... that's one reason I was thinking about a simple (and maybe not-so-serious) monthly poll instead of a big contest. It wouldn't consume much time or energy to host it, the PF botmasters could vote for each others bots and I think it could be easily secured that nobody votes for his/her own bot (or voting more than once, etc.). I just thought it could be entertaining. Maybe I'm wrong. ^^

Jeez, this forum has turned into some city planning comittee meeting. This isn't anything complicated. If you really want a bot competition, create one yourself and run it however you feel like doing it.

Other than that, there's no point in wanking about format, judging, who is involved, etc. if you're not doing any of the work. All you need to do is not participate if you don't like it.

since i'm really bored i created a poll as a prize-less contest
send an email to theseer@gmail.com with ur bots name and which catergory (smartest, overall...) it wants to be entered in. note that its a poll, not a judging contest.

I got a gmail invite and signed up. It looks pretty much identical to Yahoo mail except they try to keep you from deleting anything (perhaps it's designed for people who don't like to delete anything?). I don't really care for it.

ANYWAY.....today is the day of the Loebner contest. Naturally, I am curious. Has anyone been able to locate the bot made by Steven Watkins? (I think that's the name. I never heard of him before.)

Has anyone here been to runabot.com or tried to create a bot there? I ran across it the other day, and tried my hand at it, but it doesn't give you much control over the bot, and you have to have a certain program running on your computer and you have to be online to have the bot online. And it seems you can only have one response per keyphrase, it seems, and you can't make it so that your bot gives Bob one reply and Susie another. No AI script. And your bot will only be online for one hour from when you sign him on. Unless you pay up. Then you only get to have 4000 replies total from your bot. Customized replies. But if you pay for membership you can have 10,000 replies. My bots here both have more than that. And the runabot program won't let you let your bot learn from what people say to it, it seems.

...I like the Forge much better!
