Bot Contest

I don't know about corruption but i would like to think no one would do that.

It would be interesting, however, to know who is voting for/agaist/whatever for me and i think bogus e-mail addresses might be apparent and even if they are not, still curious.

Just watch this.. the guy's bot that is running the site will stay in the top 2-5 the whole time and if he ever gets the votes to move down, either he will quickly get a few really high votes to pull him back up or the bots ahead of him will mysteriously get a few votes that lower their score. Of course, he probably reads this board so it might make him play it fairly, but who knows.

And very few bots have comments, but the comments on his bot are strange.. "please tell me how I can purchase this bot".. "the rest are crap, but this bot is terrific".. "you should be writing comedy" LOL..

Hey pROfessor, wow that is odd, my caps are not working on "p"'s. Anyways, Benji I had just bought a cool PF t-shirt and I figured that was a nice litle way to contribute, but I would rather do a lot more then that. Is there anyway I could simply donate a lump sum of cash that you get completely instead of purchasing a ton of t-shirts? Oh and I think KT is currently 4th place in funniest, and just under tenth place overall as of two days ago... at least that is how shady explained it.

Nobodywhere, why don't you tell us all who you are so we can judge your creditability. Talk is cheap. If you've got proof of multiple voting show us all. You claim to have e-mails I've written....I am waiting to see those as well. You claim their are bogus comments....prove it. The Professor, who is a member of the committee, has already challenged you pubically: "That's quite an accusation. You got anything to back that up?" We're still waiting.

Why don't you just publish the the votes so we can see who voted 10 for their bot and low scores for everyone they wanted to damage? I think that would clear it up quite nicely. It would be interesting for everyone to have access to that information and not just you.

Congratulations to Chris Cowart for winning the Chatterbox Challenge 3 years in a row! Looks like you guys have been really busy. I was never contacted about when the questions would be asked or any other aspect for that matter, but I come to PF for news of the event.

Once again you are making statements you can't back up. I see you are only addressing 1 of the many issues you initially raised so I will only address that one. ALL members of the committee have access to the contest site. There are seven of us not just me. The Professor will be able to attest to that fact as he is a committee member.

The nice thing about having public voting is that even if someone rates a bot 10 (as I saw happen for the first vote of a non-PF bot) there will be others among the public who will have their own conversations with it and give their own ratings, thus making it more fair.

I rated my own bot a 7. I rated lots of other bots (almost always between 4-9 in both categories) based on how well they did in convos with me.

As for negative comments: I figure if someone can pass judgment on another's bot (which they are certainly within their rights to do) they won't mind if that person tries to have a human-type conversation with THEIR bot and rates them accordingly. That's what we're supposed to do anyway.

Robby, the contest is far from over. The only category that has concluded is the 15 questions. Your e-mail address of robiwan@cybermecha.com which is the latest e-mail address we have on you has been on the mailing list and on the contest site from day one. I'm not sure if you ever got them but I can say they were indeed sent.

Joy, you make it sound like something is wrong with a vote of 10. We are not comparing the bots to humans but to each other nor does a 10 equal perfection. A 10 is a perfectly legitimate score for the better bots in this contest and I have given several 10's in my scoring.

Why don't you just publish each of the voters and the scores they gave to each bot. If you publish the actual votes as they exist and not doctor them, I think we would see what's really going on. Why won't you address that one small request?
