I had trouble at first too. You'll get it. Just take one little thing at a time, and ask lots of people to talk to your bot.

Daisy was also among one of the first bot programs I played with... I wouldn't be so hard on the Alicebots (AIML bots)... I looked into it and the main thing they seem to be lacking is emotional support (unless I missed it), but otherwise they're quite similar in concept to this engine. However, for some reason I spend most of my time on this site, and I'd definitely recommend it to the new botmasters because of its user friendliness.

Oh, the other thing the Alicebots don't have is plug-ins and I don't think they have regular expressions... I guess it's like anything else though, it all depends on exactly what's important to you. I'll go back to my beer now... Oh, Hi Laura... Didn't see you come in

Forget about IQ for a second, OK? In spite of coming in third in last year's Loebner, I'm still figuring out some stuff on my silly little Angelfire page and haven't put a single Regular Expression into my bot yet. So don't feel bad if you don't figure this stuff out instantly. Nobody does.

I don't think it takes THAT much intelligence to make a bot anyway, just a lot of drive.
