Just to clarify, in Australia 'to root' is a slang term used interchangeably with 'to f*ck'.

I've always derived a great deal of amusement whenever I've heard an American say something about 'rooting for the home team'.

Yeah, and I didn't realize that 'let's blow this joint' (let's get out of here) didn't translate quite the same in Britain. Luckily, there's more to life than having others understand a word you say.

Ahahahahhahah! I can just think of the alternative meanings.... some not so nice!

Then there's always the friendly, "Shall I knock you up in the morning?"

Maybe we should ask Cheez about the alternate meanings for that...
