Does anyone know anything about getting grants? It seems to me that there must be many foundations out there that would love to subsidize the Forge. But I know nothing about how to actually get a grant.

Oh dear. I answered in newcomers, but it should be down here. Please see my answer up there and feel free to respond down here. I know I sound a bit like I have a chip on my shoulder, but "sour grapes" or not, I think the impression that lots of grants are available is not the same as grants actually being available, at least not unless you fit certain criteria and goals, because there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Yes. See if you can get the Prof to apply. Please note that stated goals are not the same as getting a NSF grant. Not to be cynical, but people in universities that are used to getting their NSF grants have been having a hard time. The amount of moneys available are limited, whatever goals are stated on paper. I am too lazy to look up articles about science funding being slashed now, so if you don't believe me, that's OK. Go and try. See what happens.
