Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! What are you doing?

My girlfriend and I are about to sit down to a little two-person Thanksgiving, because we both live far from our families. We're cooking cornish hens, because a turkey would have been too much for the two of us. And we're going to watch "Monsters, Inc." (which she hasn't seen) afterwards.

I had T-day dinner at a friend's family's house (his brother, sister-in-law, and their four kids). Unfortunately, the friend had to work security at the local tourist trap until 5:30 tonight, so I didn't see much of HIM. I did do a ridiculous amount of crocheting and also played Halo 2 with the 4-year-old, who is already on his way to a rewarding career as an evil genius set on world domination.

He'll have to beat Doulos and I if he wants the world. We've already bagsed it, I'm afraid.

Oi, as long as I get my eternal resting, complete with widescreen Tv and mini Stella Fridge I dont care who rules the world However I might be more tempted to support Laydee....mmm, cheesecake, the ultimate incentive.

Mm does anyone know how often Marines get their dog tag thingies? Do they just get one or do they get new ones every few months or so? Just wondering..

Poison?? I've never heard of that... *shifty*

They only get one set, although I'm sure if those were lost they would be issued another set (at a hefty price I'm sure). I don't remember but it may be possible to have additional sets created (but not 'officially issued')

Hm cause a while ago (I posted about it here) I wrote to a random Marine and I got his letter back this saturday. Turns out he's in Iraq and he sent me his dog tag (along with a photo of one of his horsies but anyway ^^). And I've been thinking..what if something happens to him and he dies without his dog tag. It'd be way harder to identify him, right? ...Then again, he just broke his leg and he should be coming home to Georgia soon...dunno for how long though.

Don't they get a few? *thinks*

They generally give you two dog tags and it's not hard to get more, but they're not really a necessity anymore. They'll use a DNA sample to identify you anyway, even if there are plenty of eyewitnesses. Tombs of the Unknown Soldier are kind of a thing of the past in modern militaries, they've got everyone's genes catalogued.

Shame they won't do it for criminals

Just give us a few more years/months/whatever. At the rate the USA is going, we'll ALL be accounted for, and we won't be allowed to do or say anything.

Has Holland got room for one more person?
