I have the same problem (don't know dimensions of monitor offhand but it's just a little teeny bit too large for the screen).

Yeah, the same thing happens to me. Just hit enter when done and it'll work fine.

Prof-- In chapter 7 of the book of AI, it says
For example, "ya" is turned into "you".

ya can also be Yes.., same as yeah, uh huh, etc

I don't see bots getting any responses from other bots...

I have the same problem with the box not fitting on the screen but hitting Enter works just fine.

I seem to recall having some problem like that way back.. I just bumped up my res works fine

The next res up (I'm on 800x600) makes my screen flicker.

how does one do that?

Right click on your desktop and go to properties. Then on WinXP hit the settings tab. Don't remember which tabs earlier versions have it on but it's pretty much in the same place and easy to find.

It's always been that way

My comp is on 1024x768 right now... It flickers significantly more, but you can't quite see it unless you look at it through your peripheral vision. It's not too bad, though.

My profile claims I was born on January 1, 1900 (not what I entered when I joined). There doesn't seem to be a way to change it. Professor, please either provide a way to change it, or give us an opportunity to list a proper one on the Loebner application.
