I have noticed that many statements that start with "what" will go to xnones. If I as my bot "rhyme fat" it works, "what rhymes with fat" won't. How do you get purple will work, what colors make purple won't.

Prob123,
same problem here, but only on keyphrases that do not start with ^What (rest of KP)(re).

Oh yeah, all non-what key phrases work, with and without the caret sign.

Has anyone else had the following trouble logging in?

I type my username and password, and it says it's no good. I type them again, and maybe it's accepted, maybe it isn't. On the third try, it's usually accepted.

To be sure, I make typing errors. But recently, this has been happening to me every time. I'm not that bad!

Very good, this is a low-priority problem, I can live with it. But I thought I'd mention it.

Another low-priority problem:

The "close italics" HTML tag doesn't seem to be working in the message pop-ups. So, once you italicize anything, everything to the end of the message is italicized. For example, I'm now going to try to italicize just this phrase. See?

<0>The Prof changed the protocol - it no longer closes with a pointy slash i pointy, but with a pointy 0 pointy. Don't ask me why - I guess it makes sense to him. I found it a bit annoying too.

So when you want to italicize only a certain portion of your post<0>, end the italics with a zero instead of the slash i, and then you'll be in full compliance with the new Forge-flavoured hypertext markup standard

Actually that begs a rather important question - do we need to go through our bots' responses, and outgrade all italics to this new standard? I use a lot of italics in BJ's responses (especially in chapter and verse bible citations etc.,) so I suppose I ought to go and check.

But I can't be bothered - I'm still reeling from the fiasco, and I'd rather get back to discussing more theoretical matters right now anyway. Anyone else who relies on italics a lot might not be so minded though, so if you use them - better go check they work.

If you'd like to tell the rest of us, I'll be very grateful in a sleepy and distracted kind of a way

That is great for the bot responses, what about the guests? I have some multi colored, strange looking transcripts.

16 years ago #7431
I just noticed it's only on IE, Firefos is fine. But a guest typed in for bold print and it effected all the transcript for the day. I don't use IE often so it doesn't make much difference.

A guest did effect my transcripts on firefox by using bold type.

Yes, the italics problem affects bot chat, too. But now that I know how (thank you, Psimagus), asingle "change all" command will adapt an entire bot to the new convention.

Sorry, I am thick as a brick. How would I do that for a guest chat?

16 years ago #7434
I just meant that you would download your language center, and then do a "replace all" from

less-than /i greater-than

to

less-than 0 greater-than

. That wouldn't fix other<0> people's bots, of course!
