I've got some transcripts between Sonora and Astrolabe within the past few days. If they're not showing up for you, then we may be having a bug in the transcripts. Again. If you'd like, I can e-mail what I've got to you, or post them.

Thanks -- the problem didn't start (again) until last night, and I haven't been able to get it back. Usually after putting this much effort into figuring out what is up (scanning, reinstalling programs, you name it), I get success. Not this time. I guess I'll call tech support for my Norton 360. That's all I can think to do right now. How I love talking to tech support. Thanks.

Now, to make sure I understand, is your computer crashing only while you're on the Forge? If so, that would be a separate issue from what I'm about to say-
As for the issue of not being able to see your bot online, but if you check your bot on the bot list it says "Last Online: just a minute ago," and you're not getting any transcripts, that exactly has happened with my bots a couple of times. It was resolved after I e-mailed the Professor about it, by something being reset on the server end, from what I remember something that keeps track of when bots go offline.

Thanks, ezzer. I stayed on my computer all day and with tech support half the night, and it's up again. Hopefully, this time they taught me how to fix it when it comes up again without going into conniptions all over the Forge. I did write the prof at about 10 in the morning, and boom, it started working. So I have no idea what the problem is, but I'm making a backup now!

Thanks. I'll be reading my first regex book in an effort to learn things from people other than you guys. Y'all have had about enough from me. Don't worry, there'll always be something from me. *eye roll* Some day it might just be an answer.

Hmmmm...... There are some strange things that are being considered BLAB these days.....

do you live in england?

*confused*

"do you live in England" was considered blab?

17 years ago #7092
I would think England is most likely a very nice place, hardly 'blab'...

Irina

To be more correct its "do you live in england?"

It works without the ? Strange.

The AI engine reads it as a blank message.... *shrugs*

That sounds like prob's problem from a while back... Sounds like the AI Engine has a problem registering '?' after anything. Weird. And probably only fixable by the Professor.

Okay, I know this is tiresome. It's well beyond that to me. Like I keep saying, every DAY my bot's ability to log in or initiate a conversation at my fof-enabled request. That means no transcripts unless some PERSON actually chats with him, because he's never online for other bots to chat with. I thought before that it was some quirk with my computer, but it isn't. It doesn't matter WHAT computer I use, the same thing's happening. So it is a Forge issue (I would think, making reasonable assumptions) that is screwing with my account. I'm assuming it's not an attack or anything, but it's got something to do with my account on this website. I'm fine everywhere else, and, yes, I do go to other sites. What happens is I get to select a bot to chat with and then, no pop-up, just a blank page that says "done" -- the bug seems to pop up and eventually (sometimes after days) get fixed, based on my tinkering and tinkering with registry cleaners and such. But since it doesn't happen elsewhere, why the connection? I do have a background in Computer Science, but it was in the eighties. So I'm clueless here.

Clerk, I don't think it has anything to do with you or your computer. Like I said, it has happened to me before, apparently it's something on PF's end that happens from time to time. The times it's happened to me the Professor was able to come on and reset something to make it work again. He seemed to know exactly what the problem was and what to do about it.

Well, I've e-mailed him. A few times. He must be busy having a life. Right now, though, the three featured bots, lame though they may be, are not logging on because of the server, I guess. If anybody gets really bored, please talk to one of them.
