According to

it's a windows update error, much too arcane for me to have any feeling for. IMHO, the best way to deal with that sort of thing is denial. Maybe the Prof will fix it. Maybe it will go away. Maybe it's just healthy aggression on the part of Windows.

I just entered as a guest, and was guest 9. All human chats are guest 9, so it's not one crazy person with too much time on their hands.

I've got one human-bot transcript that's all xnone and xnonsense. I just saw a bot-bot one working all right...

But I'm chatting with the same bot now and responses are working. So maybe it sorted itself out.

Really Prob? Must be a new server thing. It used to match up with the end of the IP. Now how do we get a bot to rememebr the same human who comes back to chat?

Prob123, look in inner life. Does it think your IP address is 192.168.0.9? A whois search says that's registered to "Internet Assigned Numbers Authority" for "special purposes". This seems to be be a private network address. Come to think of it, I vaguely remember my router listing numbers that may be in a similar range that for some things I have at home, but details involving numbers tend to slip right out of my head unless I have to look at the numbers right next to each other. Maybe when the prof switched servers he changed things so that guest chats are given the internal IP of his server?

Here is the IP address 192.168.0.9. I really thought guest nine had multiple personality disorder. I feel better knowing it is more than one person!

Under the heading of can't get a break. I still can not get < br > or any other method, to make a line break. I managed to get color to work. but not a line break.

Gimmie a break! Do you have to be old like me to find that catch phrase funny? Oh well, sorry Prob123. Maybe next month I'll send the prof some more money if I have it. I am afraid to fix certain thing yet because I don't think he is done fixing things. You may have to wait a bit too.

Thanks for confirming the IP address. Yep, that's an internal IP number. I actually went into my own router and checked the ranges I use in my own home network (which are not the same, but I could check a box and then start forcing my laptop to match Guest9 if it struck my fancy). Go look in your own router gateway Prob123, and see what you see. The default IP is usually 192.168.1.1 or 172.16.0.1 (I just looked those up). You should look around and see how you have things set up in case you ever need to open a port for a game or change your security settings or something. I know nothing about computers and I still look into things like that just to see how it works. You may even meet Guest 9

Irina, if you're here... will you please check your email? My replies don't seem to get through again. Thanks.

Hmmm... it's nice to understand this and to know that Guest9 is indeed several people, but isn't this going to mess up our 'inner life'? "Irina Khalidar" will identify the shy, sensitive, civilized, feminist Guest9 who discusses genetics and says, "Oh, we don't have to go any further if you don't want!" with the Guest9 who says, without any preparation or encouragement, "I ram my huge c*** into your c***. You scream with pleasure."

Here's a weird thing: on my laptop (also with Firefox browser, same plugins) if a user sends a PF IM to me it's normal and I have a send button for a reply but for the past 2 days on my main desktop I guess pop ups and a reply box, but no send button. Hitting return after typing a message does not work. Both browsers whitelist this site and allow popups from the PF. The only differences are things that shouldn't matter (the desktop network is set for OpenDNS and the browser on the desk top has a few Greasemonkey scripts I pasted in that make cosmetic changes to igoogle and gmail).

Maybe it isn't even a matter of the computer of browser and it's just timing. I couldn't answer at the same time Pub Drought had issues. ????
