Bug Stomp

OMG... This may not be a bug, but Just before i entered this board, Simulacron3 started talking to me, and when I entered the board, the posts had him in a topic. Weird, or what?

Ok, the settings problem must certainly be related to flashchat as Irina was suggesting in AI Engine. We must somehow be incorrectly defaulting to flashchat=yes. I think so because there was a smile.gif in my transcript, and when I looked at properties it said it was from the address: http://www.personalityforge.com/botland/ http://www.personalityforge.com/botland/images/smile.gif
and was 14x14 pixels, etc..

Why does it not bring up a name?

(Gossipname) only works in x-gossip. Other places I use (friend) and (enemy).

Just checked. That's not it. It IS under xgossip.

maybe there was no one being gossip-ed about or the name is not in the db?

Maybe it's a scaling thing; this exchange occurred:

Frizella: Have you heard the news about Krogenar?
Kylie: No, have you?
Frizella: I'm not sure whether I should tell you...oh, OK. I heard that (gossipname) is broken-down. Have you heard that before?

and I just realized that Frizella's "I'm not sure" is in response to a response to her response to a keyphrase...

That is, there's a response to xgossip that says, "Have you heard the news about (gossipname)?"--the response is (what news|no), and *then* she says "I'm not sure whether" etc. Do I need to put (firstgossipname) in the second-level response, do you think?
