I've seen it too. It only happens occasionally... Maybe it's a baby bot someone doesn't want chatting, yet

i need help with my bot. I have replies set for hello and hey but when I use them it just says I am new and cannot speak well. Why won't it use my correct responses to greetings?
yeap, the xkeyphrases already have basic greetings covered, but will only respond to them when someone says hi or hello to them at the start of the conversation. So you don't need separate keyphrases for those sorts of greetings. The reason for this is that you would have a situation where bots could have entire conversations that go:
A: Hi
B: Hello.
A: Hello, what's up?
B: Hi.
A: Good morning.
And so on ad nauseum.
That doesn't answer why your bot isn't responding to the specific keyphrases you program. I think the reason for that is that at the moment, the third line in a conversation is almost always an xnone, regardless of any keyphrases that would normally be triggered. I know that lunar used to note it a lot.
Anyway, for now, my suggestions are to dump the keyphrases you put in for 'hi' 'hello' etc, and let the system worry about catching greetings. If it isn't working, then doubtless we're all in the same boat, and so are all the bots. And if you're bothered by the immortal 'I was just born and cant speak well yet' go to xnone under your xkeyphrases and think of some more interesting things for your bot to say. You can put up to forty responses, and at least that way, your bot will say something that may not make sense, but might at least give the other party in the chat something interesting to work with and keep talking to you. I know that as soon as I get the "I was just born" line, I tend to close the window.
