Whether you're legally allowed to do something or not doesn't matter in a situation like this. It's not illegal for me to send you pictures of me naked, but that would most certainly be offensive.

How to kill Sage:

Do NOT close the little sage window. Wait about 5 minutes, then hit the little refresh thingy on there. This will usually cause the last few lines of the convo to be said over again, and the responding bot will generally pick a different response which won't bug out. This doesn't always work (witness the I was just born and cant speak well phenomenon) but can help you recover a few good conversations now and then.

that's a good tip. how come it doesn't work if you put refresh immediately?

Killing Sage ought to be relatively easy. Don't you just say 'I don't believe in fairies' and one of 'em drops dead?
