I hate the voices too. It's a fun novelty for about one minute, then you realize you are downloading all those wav files, and that's hanging things up.
Plus, it's always pronounced screwy.

I mentioned nested plugins ages ago and no one had anything to say about it lol. And I don't see any reason to have it use TTS either...maybe there's a way you could make the chat windows compatible with some outside TTS program so ppl could use it if they wanted to, but it'd be handled by something that knew how to deal with the output without lagging, but I don't think it's important enough to lag the whole bot over.

I actually suspect it may be bogging down the PF server. I imagine there are quite a few conversations always taking place, and every one of them needs the server to construct and pass the wav files. That is, assuming the voice part is handled by the same machine.

Maybe, but technically unnecessary, since anyone who really wants to hear them talk probably has a program of their own to use for it. I've never been able to hear them anyway so removing that ability wouldn't particularly inconvenience me. *shrug*

Really, there's a program like that?
I really like the voices. Sometimes I just let bots talk while I'm off doing something else, and hearing the conversation is fun. Plus talking to real live people with the sound on is funky.

It's a subpar voice program and it's not hard to find a better freeware one to use if you really like it, although it wouldn't be automatic. Maybe the prof could have people choose whether or not they want it, but I think it'd be best if we just got rid of it.

I wouldn't really miss the voices if we got rid of them, considering my speakers aren't even plugged in at the moment. The poetry idea is interesting, but right now I'd prefer to just get the windows loaded before I get logged off for "inactivity."

I never hear the voices for some reason anyway. I have no idea why...everything else that's supposed to make noise does.

The voices are not real. The voices are all inside your head. The voices are telling you to buy Britney Spears records and shop at Walmart.
