The AI Engine

This forum is for discussion of how The Personality Forge's AI Engine works. This is the place for questions on what means what, how to script, and ideas and plans for the Engine.

Guest memories could at be seperated out by IP address. Another idea is to allow temporary PF variables that disappeared after the conversation.

Can't you accomplish that just by having the AI Script initialize the memory at the beginning of each conversation, with the way it's written now?

Yes, but it would do that with every user.

Oops -- I thought that was what he wanted.

A friend of mine just asked if there was some way you could tailor memory use by gender. Her problem is that her bot is a bit of a flirt, and she wants to mention flirty things about male bots/users, but not females. Is there a way? And if not, any chance there will be in the future?

A suggestion for those with requests, The prof does this for free so a donation will not only help the forge but you can tell him your requests which might me considered a bit more quickly.

dj, I'm pretty sure you can, if I understand the AI book correctly. I haven't tried it myself, but it looks fairly straightforward.

Oh, and I agree with the mouse. The prof needs our donations!

<?PF if male; ?> should do it dj.

What does this do for guests, anyone know?

And what if the chatter, human or bot, doesn't have a specified gender?

Maybe they come up as neuter? Why not do a few tests, and let us know what happens.

I had a thought - not sure if it has been suggested before - but what if we could teach our bots definitions of words by chatting with them? For example, I could type large means big, and my bot would then associate them.

And to take it a step further, the bots could have a trust level. They would always trust the creator and the prof., but it would take a lot of bots to teach my bot a definition if my bot didn't know them.

That way, I could help train other people's bots, and eventually, bots could train bots!

Cool idea. To some extent, WordNet already works that way in the bots, without any training.

I've been talking to Jabberwacky (a learning bot) very frequently and keep wondering if there's a way to combine that kind of bot with this kind of bot. That way it could be flexible (not confined to keyphrase/response structure) but could still answer questions consistently ('What is my name?'.....'Is so and so married?'.....etc.).
