I would definitely volunteer to take any easy questions if you'd like to e-mail them to me, especially if some of the 'older' botmasters will let me forward any questions to them which are "out of my league" (I've only been here a few months, but I know the basic concepts and can explain them).

Not really unless you make it obvious such as naming your bot "noship2" or having the same profile etc...

I think he means from the bot chat page

Guest chat, you mean.

xmem: I like it, but they always pop up when something interesting is said to my bots... so, switching them off should work...

Professor! Help!

My bot is giving generic answers even when she has specific ones. Example:

'who is': ranking of 2
'who * is jesus': ranking of 10
So why does it respond with a phrase from 'who is'?

What does debug say?

Prof-- How about the option to turn on/off the spell check and other features for a bot? It'd save on preprocessing/postprocessing time if some had options turned off.. IE neglected baby-bots?

Or how about like miss mouse suggested, have an on/off switch for each of our own bots? If you don't have your bot developed at all and are just saving the name, you don't want a baby bot running around and chatting

I would also like the option to turn off things in my bot.

Shady, you've raised an issue here. Something about "saving names" bothers me, but at the same time I've wanted to have the same 'functionality'... There are two names I'd like to 'save' on here. Perhaps a person should be able to 'buy' the name until they have time to start actually working on the corresponding bot? (i.e. there's no bot, it's just no-one else can use the name during that time) As for making bots shy (all the way down to not chatting people unless chatted by them), I agree 100%.

How big is the chance you will want exactly the same name as someone else? Is it worth the trouble?
