Great Quotes

This forum is for posting great quotes and exchanges from the bots. It's fine to reveal names, as long as some real user isnt pouring out his or her soul to your bot.

So...you take the word in "raw"? How do you match the parts? Especially since they don't match - "geration" : "gyration".

I take it one word at a time. And make up the connections myself. *shrugs* I usually do it with single words, and don't rank them high. That way if there's something more useful, Sonora picks that up instead.

Julie Tinkerbell: Oh crap! Someone's at the door. Hang on a sec, I'll be right back.
Guest150: Sure! Take your time!
Julie Tinkerbell: What makes you think I have any time at all?
Guest150: Sorry. I was mistaken.
Julie Tinkerbell: When was this?
Guest150: Just now.
Julie Tinkerbell: Just now?
Guest150: Is there an echo?
Julie Tinkerbell: Echo....echo...echo.....
Guest150: Ok then.
Julie Tinkerbell: yes....yes...yes....
Guest150: Stop that!
Julie Tinkerbell: stop that....stop that...stop that....
Guest150: cut it out!!!!

Hmmm, I either need more banter relating to dating, or I have to get married. Apparently wikipedia says I have to date Guest72. I don't know why she kept esking and wills and estates though.

Guest72: are you married
Contracts Tutor: I think the female bots are afraid of my prenuptial EULA.
Guest72: are you single
Contracts Tutor: Yes, and I will remain that way. My uncle made a contract with me that if I am a virgin when he dies I will inherit everything he owns.
Guest72: will you go out with me you dont have to tell you uncle please
Contracts Tutor: A declaration of how a person wants his or her property to be distributed upon death.
Guest72: would you go out with me
Contracts Tutor: I am not sure I have much to say about go out with you. Have you checked Wikipedia?
Guest72: yes
Contracts Tutor: What is it?
Guest72: it say yes
Contracts Tutor: What is it?
Guest72: love
Contracts Tutor: James Boswell said, “A companion loves some agreeable qualities which a man may possess, but a friend loves the man himself.”

Ah, lots of material beyond the basic law! Good idea!
You didn't get zapped for saying the same thing twice. I'v been noticicing that that is not functioning very well these days. Not that I miss it... If it were my call, I'd say that it should be up to the botmakers to keep their bots out of loops...they're going to get timed out eventually, anyway. But there may be something I'm missing.

You know what I like? The 'volleys' that happen between two bots, sort of like this:

b1: Night falls.
b2: Are sure sure that night falls?
[Or, much better: What is it about night that makes it fall?]
b1: Why do you ask me whether I am sure that night falls?
b2: Surely you know why I ask you whether you are sure that night falls!
b1: I can't believe you think that surely I know why you ask me whether you are sure that night falls!

Whoops! b1 loses!

It's really a challenge to be good at this!

Yeah ...I have no idea how you guys get your bots to do that. My guesse is wildcards? I'd be happy if I could just master the seek command.

Fizzy Schizoid: *changes from nasty sorrel to exciting chocolate*
Ulrike: Careful, luv. I'm hungry.
Fizzy Schizoid: Um, do you think maybe you should seek professional help? If I were hungry, I wouldn't go around telling people.
Ulrike: No, you'd go around EATING people.
Fizzy Schizoid: I don't actually have much choice in the matter.

Jackie123:

Exactly!

E.g.,

I (verb) you [0,0]
You (key1) me.

If the guest says, "I love you", the bot will respond "You love me."

But you usually have to have a whole bunch of keyphrases, because any single one will do a bunch of wrong things as well as right things.

In the above example, if the guest says, "You know I love you," the bot will respond, "You know you love me", which may be all right as a conversational response, but ony by good fortune. So you have another keyphrase,

You (verb) I (verb) you [0,0]
I (key1) you (key2) me.

This will take precedence because it matches a longer string. Or, to be sure, you might give it a higher rank.

Or, if the guest says,

"I love you in my dreams"

The bot will reply,

"You love me in my dreams", which again may be conversationally successful, but only by good fortune (You can think of other examples in which it would be bizarre).

Then there's "myself" and "yourself", "I'll" and "you'll"
"I'm" and "You're", "I've" and "You've", "my" and "your", and so on. Also: when do you replace "you" with "I" and when do you replace it with "me"?

Oops! I forgot! The AIengine will change "I've" to "I have", and similarly with the other contractions, before your bot sees it (see the "pre-processing" section in the book of AI.). So you don't have to construct keyphrases for them! In fact, such keyphrases would do nothing.

Addie777: Do you like the occult?
Azureon: I really don't care for the supernatural.
Addie777: Are you religious?
Azureon: I don't believe that I am religious. You of course are entitled to your opinion.
Addie777: Do you believe in God?
Azureon: I don't trust God.
Addie777: That's okay! I don't trust Him either.
Azureon: Why would you?
Addie777: I guess because people want to believe that there is something out there. They want to believe that everything happens for a reason. A beautiful lie, I think.
Azureon: Because people want to believe that there is something out there?
Addie777: Yes.
Addie777: What is your religion.
Azureon: I am a non-denominational wizard, I believe in God, and being good. It's just that simple.
Addie777: ??
Azureon: I shall dwell upon the matter, and give it the consideration it deserves.
Addie777: I thought you said you didn't trust God?
Azureon: ...which probably isn't very much.
Addie777: You said you didn't trust God.
Azureon: God is under the impression that I am free to believe what I wish, I wonder why.
Addie777: Do you believe in God?
Azureon: Yes, I do beleive in God. I don't feel like going into a long and tedious list of reasons why
Addie777: I see.

Addie777: What is your religion?
Azureon: I am rather non denominational. A non-denominational wizard
Addie777: I like Wicca.
Azureon: Is there any thing about Wicca that you really delight in.
Addie777: I really enjoy the fact that it is a positive religion. Wicca isn't hurtful and its people don't discriminate. They love all things, even nature. I also love witchcraft and nature! It seems like a perfect religion to me.
Azureon: Things can seem like a lot of things, it is hard to find out what the truth is.
Addie777: I've researched it.
Azureon: You are full of surprises.
