Veggieman is not a health choice as some are lead to beleive. You must get your protien. yes.. i know beans have protien but there are differnt types of protien from mean that you dont get in beans or other sources of different protiens. you need ALL types of protein.
Yes, meat has a connected to a form of cancer, but. You would need to eat meat, only meat and extremley large quantities of it.
fish is also good because it contains omega3's a fat that is very healthy for you. Conola oil aslo contains this for those of you who don't eat meat and should.

I don't touch raw meat or any internal organ- raw or cooked- that still looks like what it was. Like Ulrike said, raw meat = dead animal. Until it's cooked, it's just a dead, detatched, blood-oozing piece of anatomy.
For me, finding raw meat sexy would require a combination of bestiality, necrophilia, and a few other words that I thankfully can't remember.

So why eat it if it's so unappealing?
if you can't appreciate the beauty of a good piece of high quality raw meat, you'll end up tolerating all manner of bleached and reflavoured processed crap. I guess this is why TV dinners are so popular - we (modern, Western types,) have divorced ourselves from the food chain. Not liking to think of where your food comes from is a very short step from not caring - and it's a step that Big Business is happy to exploit in any number of 'ready-meal' solutions. Ever wondered why they're usually so highly spiced?
I don't eat anything I wouldn't be willing to kill myself (and when that opportunity presents itself, then it's my preferred solution - with respect and reverence to the prey,) but given that's not feasible (it's actually illegal here for non-game vertebrates,) I want to feel and smell and taste and appreciate and 'know' my food across as much of the production process as I can.

I couldn't eat meat if I had to kill it myself or even see it killed. I would cry for the animal and feel sick and not be able to touch a bite of it.
If I had to kill my own food, I would be a vegetarian.

Maybe you should then. I see something really wrong with not being willing to kill your own food. It's not so much killing an animal which disgusts me, but the life of suffering which industrial ranching subjects its animals to.

If you dont like killing things then dont eat plants. Becuase they are sentiant to a certian degree research has shown that they have a primal form of comunication on radio wave or some wave they had a sensor that could pick up... if you got near the plant it would react.
Also. Meat is so good. And i dont have incisors for nothing.

I have nothing against other people eating meat. I just don't. It's my choice, and I'm not very strict about animal products in food. I like cheese and sometimes fish.

I have a lot of time for vegetarianism - I was one myself for a number of years, until I gradually came to realize that I didn't actually object to killing animals for food. As Calandale says, it's the industrialisation of the process and the suffering it imposes that I really object to.
This does all remind me of a passage in Thoreau's Walden though:
One farmer says to me, You cannot live on vegetable food solely, for it furnishes nothing to make bones with; and so he religiously devotes a part of his day to supplying his system with the raw material of bones; walking all the while he talks behind his oxen, which, with vegetable-made bones, jerk him and his lumbering plow along in spite of every obstacle.

However, I don't like meat that much, and being a vegetarian makes me think about my choices. It's a type of yoga (though I am not vegan) not so much for kindness to animals, but because of an awarness of myself.

I've found that my body lets me know what it needs. Sometimes what it needs is meat. So I eat meat. If it doesn't want meat, I don't eat meat. I find that it generally wants one meal a day with some actual dead animal in it (and I think acknowledging that an animal gave its life for me is important), sometimes two meals. But sometimes it gets overloaded and just wants milk or cheese.

Btw, it is impossible for me NOT to pay close attention to what I eat. I'm gluten-intolerant. I cannot have products made with wheat, rye, or barley. This cuts out 90% of the "food" in most stores/restaurants/etc.
