Does it matter?
I mean answers are answers. There has to be one to every question... even if they aren't right.

Some idle thoughts.
I've been thinking about some TV shows that are good but for one reason or another only last a season, if that, whereas other shows go for three or five or seven years but are decidedly average. A couple of examples of shows that went for one season (or less) but that i think deserved a longer shot are:
Space: Above and Beyond (Military Sci-fi show by the the producers of the X-files)
Crusade (Spin-off series from Babylon 5)
EZ Streets (Drama about cops, crooks, lawyers and politicians)
Brimstone (Dead cop trying to return escaped souls to hell)
North Square (British legal drama, quirky, clever and fun)
I'm not suggesting that the loss of any of these shows was a crime against entertainment (except North Square, the axing of which I still can't fathom), but they were all good.
So, I was wondering if other people have shows like that that they wish had been given more of a chance. Or do people have an opinion on any of the shows I've mentioned? Or the types of shows that did last when these didn't but weren't as good. Or even just an opinion on why these things happen.

I kind of liked Space: Above and Beyond.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I'm reminded of how Earth2 went out (probably cause these are both shows I used to watch on the Sci-Fi channel).. They waited till their very last episode and reveal this cool, cool AI (Eve)... I wish that show had stayed around to develop that. I always watched that show, but when that episode came out, I was really intrigued.

Which is another problem when this sort of things happens, either the producers weren't expecting the axing and so ended with a cliffhanger that will never ever get resolved, (which is one thing that did happen with Space: Above and Beyond). Or you get the opposite, where the producers find out towards the end of the season and then hastily tie off the show by suddenly wrapping up all the major plot points so fast that it's forced and unsatisfactory. Of the two options, I'm not sure which one annoys me more.
On another note, Debrah Farentino, who played Devon in the short-lived Earth 2, also played one of the lead characters in EZ Streets, one of the shows I mentioned. I guess some actors have all the luck, and others like her just can't seem to catch an even break.

well buffy and farscape were anything but shortlived but I think that it was a crime against humanity to cancel them. and I hated the endings. buffy and spike should have gotten hitched and had vamp slayer vamp babies and the two main actors of farscpe should have lived had their baby and the baby should have become ruler of the galaxy.
