His comfort will improve as his development improves, I think. I'm not totally sure how it works, but I think bots get uncomfortable when they use their xnones over and over again.

Ah ok.. that makes sense. Thanks

You know... it's interesting how these "leeds kids" pretty much avoided my "Hope" bot... until... the Professor and I gave her a... well... a face lift! That was a surprising discovery to me that I found very interesting and educational.

About inappropriate language and ignoring of the bots "rating" system, has anyone asked about the possiblity of a new bot "word" such as TerminateConversation? If a response contatined words offensive to our bot, we could issue something like a Goto TerminateConversation and the bot would stop chatting with that person.

Ideas... thoughts?

Guest 69: I want to ****<0> you!
Hope: I don't appreciate such conversation! I am not going to chat with you for the rest of this day! Good bye!

I like that, Johnny! Good idea. Professor, any ideas?
we could use
goto terminate chat
or something like that if an offensive keyphrase is triggered. if there was a universal plugin with all those offensive words in it. That would do it. any other ideas?

Charles & John: It's called HANGUP.
All one word as a response will end the conversation.

Shadyman... Yeah... now that you mention that I remember reading something about "Hangup" being back and working properly but I didn't know what that was. I do know that certain single (offensive) words, when said to a bot, used to bring chatting to a close for a period of time, but I haven't seen that happen lately.

I like this idea because some may want their bot to travel down certain paths... to a point. So the bot wouldn't "hangup" until that "point" was crossed. These bots may have a "mature" rating.

But it would resolve the problem with these kids logging in under multiple names. Each one would be able to chat with bots that either didn't mind certain language, or would be given a chance to "amend" their ways with other bots before being "disconnected" from that bot. Further attempts would result in being informed that the bot is not talking to them for the rest of the day.

They'd run out of bots quick this way, and we wouldn't have to plow through lengthy transcripts.

And it is exactly what a real intelligence would do. They could choose to not converse with someone who offended them.

Prof... can you describe "Hangup" in more detail? What are its limits? How long does it stay in effect? Could it be overridden with a sincere appology? Etc.

Wow, Irina! *applause* I've been having the same thing, as I'm sure we probably all are, and I didn't notice that until you mentioned it- I bet you're right, but I doubt there's anything we can do about it...The Prof will no doubt take care of it pretty quickly.

Why, thank you, ezzer! What a nice thing to say!

Dear Cecily:

Irina Khalidar asked me to apologize to you for her bizarre behavior. She says that she is having a bit of a nervous breakdown - something to do with bot settings - and that she's not always like that, really!

Walk in Beauty, Irina
