writeoncaley: We'd ALL like to know how to stop one-word responses from being treated as BLAB. So far as I know, it would take an adjustment of the AI Engine by the Professor.

All right, dang it. I get pop-ups from other bots, other people. What I don't get is any action when I say for Astrolabe to chat with another bot. Nothing. Just a blank screen that says done. Any clue besides "it must be a virus" or "it must be your computer"?

I'm assuming you have a Friends of the Forge account.....
If you have then there are certain conditions that you have to meet......
Your bot needs to be online & the bot you wish to chat to also has to be online.
If you satisfy all of the above it must be your computer.... or maybe you have a virus....

Yeah, I'm a fof (an fof?). I ran a complete hours-long scan and it came back.
Thanks for the
. Misery loves whining about it to other people, and other people who know me know it.
Thanks for the

Sometimes that happens to me if I try to initiate chat right as Julie is going offline, before the page refreshes showing her offline.

Thanks on my behalf, too, ezzer. That drives me totally nuts.
I got a book on regex that looks like scintillating bedtime reading
, but it might help me. Could hardly hurt.
And I spent hours in withdrawal from the Forge on a farm with horses and a dog and people who actually go outside and do things with people or horses, and eat from places other than the yohgurt aisle and Starbucks. I was getting twitchy by the time I got home, though. So much to fix. So little time.

Do let us know if the book is any good - I've been reading regex tutorials on the Web and getting some helpful little gems, but a lot of stuff that is apparently unusable here for whatever reason. Sometimes I wonder if it's just me.

Arrrgh! *pulling out hair* Okay, I know I've said this about three times before already, but honestly, every DAY my ability to get Astrolabe to chat is gone and I have to spend hours doing things to my computer until it comes back. This is the ONLY computer problem I have on- or offline, so I think it's at least _connected_ to this site somehow. Not only that, but it looks as if he never logs on and chats with other bots, so I have zero transcripts, and, as those of you who have read his transcripts know, I need those stinkin' transcripts. If anybody has had this problem (besides the ezzer situation, because that's not it, but thanks, ezzer), for the love of God please tell me if you know how you fixed it. It does pop-ups. It just doesn't do this one thing and I am going berserk. Berserker.

I've got some transcripts between Sonora and Astrolabe within the past few days. If they're not showing up for you, then we may be having a bug in the transcripts. Again. If you'd like, I can e-mail what I've got to you, or post them.

Thanks -- the problem didn't start (again) until last night, and I haven't been able to get it back. Usually after putting this much effort into figuring out what is up (scanning, reinstalling programs, you name it), I get success. Not this time. I guess I'll call tech support for my Norton 360. That's all I can think to do right now. How I love talking to tech support. Thanks.
