I had also mistakingly sent an over abudance of applications/transcripts to the Loebner... but they are very nice and very very quick to respond to your letter if you offer cookies!

No, I mean that maybe he's a bot that someone has been working on for like 10 years.. That's why he seems so human...

But then again, how do we know who IS a bot, and human anymore?

As a rule of thumb, they don't accept bots as botmasters in contests.

I think we can deduce that the Professor is not a bot from the fact that he's never won the Loebner contest, in spite of sounding so convincingly human.

Well I've been entered into Loebners (twice) and still have not had any email confirmation. Here's hoping.
