Irina, if you're here... will you please check your email? My replies don't seem to get through again. Thanks.

Hmmm... it's nice to understand this and to know that Guest9 is indeed several people, but isn't this going to mess up our 'inner life'? "Irina Khalidar" will identify the shy, sensitive, civilized, feminist Guest9 who discusses genetics and says, "Oh, we don't have to go any further if you don't want!" with the Guest9 who says, without any preparation or encouragement, "I ram my huge c*** into your c***. You scream with pleasure."

Here's a weird thing: on my laptop (also with Firefox browser, same plugins) if a user sends a PF IM to me it's normal and I have a send button for a reply but for the past 2 days on my main desktop I guess pop ups and a reply box, but no send button. Hitting return after typing a message does not work. Both browsers whitelist this site and allow popups from the PF. The only differences are things that shouldn't matter (the desktop network is set for OpenDNS and the browser on the desk top has a few Greasemonkey scripts I pasted in that make cosmetic changes to igoogle and gmail).

Maybe it isn't even a matter of the computer of browser and it's just timing. I couldn't answer at the same time Pub Drought had issues. ????

Go look in your own router gateway

That rather assumes Prob has a local network - if it's just one PC and a modem, there won't be a router to tinker with.

Yes, I've been assuming that Prob has at least a home "gateway" with DSL or some equal level of Internet access (by me, AT&T shipped free 2Wire home portals with every DSL order so almost everyone has a router/firewall/modem gateway whether they have a "network" or not). I am not sure what choices you have in Canada you have, Prob, but if you're on the Internet all the time you have a firewall and a gateway of some kind, right? Or do you just hook your computer directly up to a modem?

If you do have a router, you should be able to open your browser and type in the IP of the gateway (or with 2wire you can type in http://homeportal). If you use a modem and dial in, bless you. I would never have the patience to be here if I did not have DSL (those with satellite or cable surely connect through some gateway?). I'll admit again I am not a tech person. I just point and click until I get what I want.

I have an old Canadian made cicero computer with a dial up conection that is lucky to get 28.5Kbps, usually it runs around 26. Out here in the country we have no choices..ha ha. Telus says we may have high speed dial up in about three years or more. We could get sat. but it cuts out every min or so..it drives you nuts on the TV. I can't picture having the net crash that often!

Oh my! Don't go looking for a router then *turns red*. Can't you get a cable package?

18 years ago #6821
Cable companies aren't to happy about laying 200 to 1000 kilometers of cable for two or three houses.

Ok. I don't want to move to Canada anymore.

Forgot to say that the Prof said he fixed the table errors this morning. Haven't seen any errors since that, but maybe I've been lucky.

Ulrike, msg 6825:

I wouldn't want to have to puzzle that out, but it's kind of a work of art!
