I like earlier rock and roll 60-80's but I still have a hard time liking country.

With country, I find it's like a lot of genres of music. My objection is not to the music per se as it is to the fact that it all gets too samey. The subject matter and the basic music structure is often very narrow. Same with a lot of the modern pop styles. Take something like dance music, where the lyrics seem to have three basic themes: "Let's have sex", "I'm too good for you" and "Everybody on the floor".
