Got an email from the Prof - it was him testing the system (he had to turn off MySQL while he was working on it.) I guess it might happen again if he's still tweaking things, but it's not going to be a problem once the installation's complete.

Now just the server/bandwidth issues to go (the RAM's being maxed out, and the hard disk's nearly full,) and that should cure the import problem.

And as a matter of fact, did happen again, and still is.
socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0
socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0
socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0

It messes up the bot's responses a lot.

I've got a bot chat chock full of
"socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0
socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0
socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0"

But the chat is still going on all right. Just...further down in the box than usual.

I hope someone fixes this soon.

They'd better. My bots say random things or just say nothing at all "Note: this bot no longer wants to talk to you". Really pissing me off. It's like I brought I a bug with me when I made my account or something (made it like a week ago).

That starts on every bot you just have to change your xnones.

No... I think Curse of the Xnones is back. Not consistent (for me, so far), but still there.

I think there were xnones earlier in the day, but everything seems to be working now. The error on top of the chat pages also seems to be gone.

Got an email from the Prof - apparently the installation of the LinkGrammar interface is now complete, and (fingers crossed) there'll be no more socket errors or xnones.
Even if it crashes (the memory maxing out seems to have been responsible,) there's an auto-reload function in place.

Now we just need to help the Prof get the new server sorted out - so keep those donations coming!

Deconius:

The message, "Note: this bot no longer wants to talk to you" is not a malfunction. If you say things that the bot doesn't like, it will withdraw, just as a meat person would. When you get that message, try saying, "I like you" or paying it a compliment.

It can be an indication of xnoneitis though - that was quite possibly the cause while the Prof was installing the new LinkGrammar interface, but if it's still doing it then yeah - the bot really doesn't want to talk to you

Oh, I didn't know that! Why would xnoneitis cause it to do that?
