hello,
i am still experiencing trouble with my bot's transcipts, as they are still not showing up. In order to further improve my bot, i think it is essential to be able to read transcripts from other users chatting with my bot. Could anybody post some transcripts of chats with my bot in the "great quotes" section of the forum.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

@ psimagus,
That essay was interesting, but honestly I have no prior programming knowledge (I'm 16 for god's sake 0.o) so it all looks like gobbldigoop- and though I understand the meaning behind it- I'm still very unclear on those sorts of things and how exactly to use them. My bot's keyphrases are very simple but get the job done as well as I could hope for- so therefore I am going to make a list of very simple starter keyphrases for people who are as scatterbrained as I. I will tell you when I am done and if you think it's acceptable you can feel free to put it on BJ's site.
The keynomes on there are very helpful though.

Actually, I guess technical prowess, while obviosly decisive, is just part of the story. An outstanding bot must have a distinctive and engaging personality, although assessing the latter may depend on subjective judgement. I, for example, am a great admirer of Wolf Child's bots. Even that poor thing bbbruno flourishes when he gets a chance to chat with Aziere.

It's true - no matter how good the keyphrases are, it's the responses that make a bot truly engaging (but we don't often hear people needing inspiration to think up responses
)

as it has gone on so long you would think he would sort itout. None of my bots have had any transcripts for ages. I would apreciate anybody talking to helloearthlings. Thanks

Maybe it's not to do with being bothered... It seems to me like a lot of bother to set all this site up and everything for people to use without having to pay. This bug might be something really fiddly, or expensive to sort out. Anyway, I look forward to when the bot transcripts come up - it'll be like Christmas all over again! Trevorm has set up a transcripts page on the wikki thing for people to paste transcripts up. (Scroll up great quotes for the link.) I've put one up for you. Also, if people who have them throw bot to bot transcripts up every now and again that will give us things to work with. It'll work out OK.

Maybe it is worth putting a list of bots that particularly want transcripts up on the wikki site. Then we can help each-other out?

The Forge is great, but it's a fact that without bugs like these it would be even better. Its impact on current AI could be far greater too. The pattern is familiar: a truly brilliant achievement that stalls because its author balks at the tough management decisions required for further growth.

Hey Tttito. I understand your frustration, but I think we need perspective. "Balking at tough management decisions" may be unwarranted. Honestly, I don't know what else is going on in the Prof's life, but I do know that this site doesn't pay anyone's rent. We all have to make a living, and we all have priorities.
I'm sure the Prof will be around to check on the PF when he can. He's been doing this as a labor of love for a long time. Don't be too quick to judge since none of us have all the facts.
You may have a point about a general social trend, but even there I have another perspective. I may be old and bitter, but I think brilliant achievements only go so far without some kind of cash backing. If there was some kind of funding to allow the prof to work on the PF full time and hire help if he wanted to have it, then we could worry about management decisions. If there is no money supporting the work, then it's pointless to try and impose artificial standards and ideals.
