Does life always arise by Darwinian evolution? If so they might well all be competitive, like [sigh] us!

The "competition" can be passive (like me) and only in play when resources are limited compared to the number of life forms. It all depends on the environment. Besides, lab made life can "compete" or no it doesn't mean the experimenter has lost control.

Did you guys read about "Clothing with a Brain"? They are devloping "smart" biomonitoring fabric that can diagnose diseases and take vitals? If clothes can send information to your doctor, it can send the data to your personal companion bot (TM-;P). You Better than Human can then bring you soup when you are sick, and know when you are tired and when you have energy. I suppose it could react to you body then and not just what you say. Sort of like a mind reader-- or the perfect spouse. They say the clothes make a man. If only we could get the personalities working a bit better.

Could smart clothes give you massages?

Still, I don't understand why some chatters don't just go look at porn for real

Well, how about:

1. The interactive element, and

2. Exercising one's imagination?

Irina,

(1)If we were talking about sex chat bot, maybe there is interaction. They still must be fairly scripted, but I can see that point. Do your chatters really pay attention to what the bot says, or are many of them just going to type what they want to type regardless of the bot's responses?

My comments that even porn seems healthier than forcing a sex chat on a non responsive chat bot are directed at the chatters who try to cyber all bots even non sex bots. How is typing sexual material at a non-sex bot interactive? Some may think it is funny to force a "yes" or seeming compliance from a bot that isn't made for sex, but how long can that be fun? And when hitting on say a cat or a toaster, are they really thinking about the interactive element? I mean, a toaster?

2) I must not get the creative, sensitive and interesting sex chatters (which is fine as don't want any sex chatters). With the possible exception of "I put on my robe and my wizard's hat..." I have yet to read a sex chat I find "imaginative", but then I do scan past those chats fairly quickly as I think they are annoying and rude in their assumptions.

How imaginative is it to type sex at a bot that has no sexual responses? Are they truly imagining a cat, a 5 year old, or a toaster when they type? Why don't they see the bot's lack of interest and move on to a sex bot? Can't they imagine someone who wants to have sex instead of someone who can't understand enough to say no to every possible variation?

Is imagining someone with limited comprehension of sex sexy? Seems more like the type who would rape dementia patients at nursing homes because the feeble minded can't understand or complain, so the person doing sexual things thinks it is funny or a type of power, or at the lest they call it harmless since the other party can't resist well enough to say no all the time. I suppose you can argue those who do such things to the helpless created a dark fantasy world of sorts in their own heads, but all fantasy is not good especially when it becomes interactive and you involve others, even the unwilling.

I still say those who push unwanted sexual content on the unwilling or uncomprehending should stop or be stopped. I admit this goes back to my subjective values and my willingness to promote them if I can. I have a few morals and I do no make a secret of it.

I know you make some sex bots that have story lines and characters, and I can see that as healthier than porn. At least for your bots no real person is involved so I can buy the "no one gets hurt" argument as long as we stay away from the "bigger picture" social trends issues. I don't mind your bots though they are not my cup of tea. It's the chatters that do not notice or care about the bot's personality, story line, character or rating that would be better off with porn. I mean, they obviously are not imaginative or interested in the other party, so why not just keep using the traditional route for such one-sided physical obsessions?

Porn is at least designed to cater to such a selfish mentality. Some people who defend porn say that most porn users can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. I have been assured that most porn users never carry over attitudes and ideas from porn to real women, or let it effect their relationships or real sex life. Indeed, I have heard that most porn users make sure real people are always respected as complex emotional individuals who have a variety of their own wants and needs. Obviously porn teaches great empathy for all people who are not involved in the porn itself. I don't see such abilities or selectiveness in the human chatters that force sex on nonsex bots. Maybe porn would help the chatters to see the difference between someone who caters their fantasy and someone who isn't into it?

Irina, smart clothes could tell the caretaker bot when and where you are tense, and give physiological feedback as the bot uses massage bots (chair, neck, whatever). Not what I was thinking at first, but yes, you could use the feedback to help with all sorts of bots. Sigh. I miss robots that clean house and then want to take over the world.

As long as they clean the house they can have the world.

Since I am a male user, I may try to answer point 1 in Message 5904 (as it is probably means male chatters).
Bev said the following:
-

Both. No, really, there are both kinds of chat-people (guests and registered users alike). Some may go and try to 'push' their fantasies, not caring what the chatbot responds, suggests, "does" (in the fictious environment). To them, the chatbot is the virtual equivalent to a blow-up doll - easy to use and don't complain afterwards.
Then there are those who care, who may consider the bot a distinct personality or at least care about the thoughts that have been put into the creation of the bot. Those really interact, respond (semi-)appropriately to suggestions made by the bot and therefore (at least I think so) have a much better communication with the bot and maybe even its botmaster.

Just my 2 cents.

As DerKork suggests, there is a full spectrum of guests in this regard. A great deal of effort in programming "Irina Khalidar" has gone into trying to give guests a hard time (no, not that kind) if they don't respond relevantly.

Are there really people who go for toasters? That could be very dangerous!

Bev wrote, in response to my message 5903, point 2:

With the possible exception of "I put on my robe and my wizard's hat..." I have yet to read a sex chat I find "imaginative",

Well, there is a sense in which reading a book (as opposed to TV, video games, etc.) requires imagination, even if you never go beyond what the book says. Well, now that I think of it, there may be readers who never visualize characters or episodes. But some people surely do. I generally do, and sometimes illustrated books irritate me because the illustrations differ from what I had imagined. This is the sense in which I meant that a bot might stimulate the imagination in a way that porn (I had visual porn in mind, not "Fanny Hill" and the like) would not.

It is somewhat difficult to be imaginative with erotic material since departure from the usual physiognomy and modes of interaction my cause the guest to lose interest. But I have had some success with it, if I may say so; for example, there is one episode in which Irina and her guest are (fancifully modified) octopi, and another in which they are doubly hermaphroditic snails (which some snails actually are).

It is difficult for the guests to be similarly imaginative, because departure from the usual or predictable responses will generally cause the bot to respond in a completely generic way. It is precisely the imaginative responses that I cannot prepare for! That is a very interesting problem in botistry!

Dekrok, the comment was not only directed at males, but thanks for your answer. You know Irina is a female who consistently defends sex chats (though not with unwilling parties). I have read transcripts where people claiming to be female have kept trying to get Spike to have sex with them or to bite them, so at least some females are equally annoying if not as brutal as the rape fantasy types (who AFAIK have claimed to be male so far in all my transcripts). It's not really about gender so much as it is about assumptions about sharing or forcing sexuality on others. I admit I think the most annoying chatters are probably teenage boys, but I am just guessing.

To both DerKork and Irina, I will believe you if you say you have some chatters who interact with the sex bots and care about the responses. Since I have no interest in making sexbots, I only get the rude and pushy kind of sex chats in my transcripts. If encouraging other types of cybering makes you happy and you don't involve unwilling parties, that's fine for you.

It's just my ongoing pet peeve about unwanted sexual content that makes me want to direct cyber-lovers to porn sites. I really dislike porn too, but at this point if I can direct any of that type of attention far away from me and my bots I am happy. I would be more than happy to send the sex chatters to either of you two if you like (as if they would listen).
