Debug is not working and I am still getting xnones, I just sent an e-mail to the Professor.

I'm getting xnones now, and yes - debug shows the linkgrammar script problem's back. Thank goodness this waited till after the judging to happen, at least!

I'll check out the "amen" problem once debug comes back

Thanks - it certainly could have been a lot worse.
Of course, I won't be really satisfied with him until he can pass the Turing test in a couple of languages, argue several ontological proofs of God's existence persuasively and complete the Times crossword in under 10 minutes

this xnone problem's really getting to be a drag. I wonder, would it be feasible to set up an automatic daily server reboot? That would at least ensure the problem didn't persist for more than 24 hours

That's true (I'm getting those errors in my bot-to-bot chat initiations again, as well). You still have to wonder about the root cause...

To requote the Prof:

The xnonitis problem occurs when, for some reason, so many instances of the perl gateway are launched that it stops functioning. It returns an empty sentence structure, which can only trigger xnones.

Wish I knew more Perl, but it's been too long and got too rusty, and was never that good anyway

I wish. Sounds like a memory leak problem. Does Perl have deconstructors?
