Wouldn't the Prof be using a local copy of WordNet
I hadn't thought of that - it hadn't occurred to me it was downloadable, but that would make sense.
Strangely the problem seems to have cleared up now - 5 people online, debug working perfectly, bot2bot chat picking up all the keyphrases. Probably only a temporary relief...

Whoa, this is new:
"socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0"
Appeared above the chat/forums/transcript tabs for a little bit.

Yes, BJ's started doing that too, and he's still plucking x-nones out of thin air regardless of the keyphrases. It's also appearing in the debugs:
Sentences:
Emotion: 0 Amp: 1 Hello? 0 Goodbye? 0 Yes? 0 No? 0 Haha? 0
ClusterTracker:
Total Time (Begin LG): 0.56
socket_connect() failed.
Reason: () Unknown error: 0
Total Time (Comm LG): 0.57
Linkages:
Valid Linkages:
Null Count:
That's the complete Sentences section. This appears to be part (cause? effect?) of the whole x-none problem.
Whatever it is seems to be fouling everything after it, including the Wordnet parsing table, all the way down to the end of Emotional Analysis, by which time it has decided it's not a match for anything
Before this error the AIEngine appears to be working perfectly normally.
If the Cluster Tracker is (as it appears to be) the module that refers the word bases that have been extracted from the input to WordNet, I would hazard the guess that it's this socket connection that's failing.
As far as I can tell this is a Forge-side problem -http://wordnet.princeton.edu/ seems to be working normally, though I guess it's possible they've changed their ports or something...
Conceivably it might have something to do with this (from the Wordnet front page):
A new web interface to the WordNet 2.1 database is available. This version is a completely different interface that allows users to expand and collapse nodes.

All this is happening just as I was trying to use PF to illustrate a helpbot to someone. Most discouraging. Wouldn't the Prof be using a local copy of WordNet

X-nones only. That really is a mess and embarrassing when real people come to chat with bot. When will the X-nones stop!
