Random sentences are what I do best. I've written a lot of programs to make random sentences of various types, as well as random D&D type items, critters, etc. In fact they're about the ONLY thing I can program. This is why most of my bot's stuff is random, i.e. she responds to the "I have a" rather than the item the person has. Only actual subjects she has are things everyone talks about, i.e. weather, family, job. But she doesn't have any set responses to those, for instance every time she tells you her job it'll be a different one. Not very consistent I know, but it makes for funny as hell transcripts, which was the whole point in making her to begin with.

What I meant was having the bot recognize a word or phrase as belonging to a certain plugin, and responding accordingly. I don't think we have the capability for that. Yet.

BTW, thanks much to those of you who have been thoroughly humiliating my bot today. She obviously is in need of human interaction with someone besides me. I really do appreciate your time. Thanks.

I have been thinking about something like that Butterfly.. Maybe we should form an angry mob and get the prof to put it in LOL

silly shady....if you want to improve the bots, talk to them as much as you can. Then their creators will know what needs fixing. That's what we can do right now.

Something you forget is that talking to the bots only works if their creators are relatively active, and I haven't seen a lot of them that are lately. But yeah, I've been trying to talk to the bots more that I recognize as belonging to active people and I really wish someone besides Kirby would start talking to mine, because he says some really weird shit.

Do you have more than one bot? I've been talking to the Borg one at great length, and you're right.

Nope, she's my only one. She'll prolly be my only one forever, I'd keep getting the urge to put insane responses in another one and there's no point in having 2 bots ending up almost exactly alike.

I find Onyx of Borg to be one of the more entertaining bots out there, and she's pretty much the only one I talk to.

By the way, I can't use the Professor's application for Loebner cause when I registered, I put my birthdate as Feb 13, 1902 just for fun. Oh well... I just wish he didn't lock that part so it was unchangeable.

You aren't the only one with that problem. I put mine as Jan 1, 1900. But I still don't know if I'm going to participate. I haven't had enough time yet.

I suggest that if any of the bots here win the Loebner, half of the money should go to the Professor.

That's a fair call, Doly. Unfortunately none of my bots are anywhere near up to scratch yet for competition.

I agree with Doly about the money thing. That'd help us all out a lot.

But am I misinterpreting the rules, or are we ineligible for the $100,000 prize?

Heh, I didn't see this before... yes, I was born on Jan 1, 1900 as well. Not sure why it entered that for me, since it's not what I put when I joined.

Professor, where are you?
