don't expect a technological solution any time really soon
hmm - there actually appears to be an automessage script that could possibly be used to deal with spammers without too much extra effort - the Prof might be able to tweak it for the forums? I just got an automessage saying "you appear to be spamming, and your account will most likely be deleted" after I sent a dozen or so chat windows to Jakky asking her why she was a drongo (I will naturally accept such penalty without complaint, and with due contrition and humility in the event that the Prof thinks it appropriate,) but perhaps it could be adapted to filter forum posts? Say to ban posts containing:
more than 3x consecutive emoticons,
more than 5x consecutive exclamation marks
more than 10x consecutive other mixed punctuation,
And maybe
more than 2x posts per new user (however defined) per forum per day (excluding Newcomers perhaps)?
It might be easier than having to recode all the scripts to allow for explicit moderation?
crack-a-mutant? interesting evolution there.
Glindar: You a mutant? Why you a mutant?
Watzer: I am a cranky a mutant!

Watzer: It's not so bad, being an a crank a mutant.

Guest186: wanna be kicked in the crotch
SavPixiebot: uh... thanks... i think.
Guest186: it will hurt like hell
SavPixiebot: sorry i got distracted... what were we talking about?
Guest186: say a cuss!
SavPixiebot: That was mean.

why are my compliment responses being triggered by want to be kicked in the crotch?
and why is "say a cuss" an insult?

Thought I let you know that I've added six plug-ins to the limited use section. They all concern psychiatric/psychological conditions/states and are categorised according to word class. Hope you can get some use of out them. Should be good for insults at least!

Here's something interesting-if you have your bot set to storyteller, any gotos from an x-keyphrase will also be in order.

It looks as if "Why? What would you like me to do?" is being classified as a compliment!
johanna: (to Elke) Hello. I am Johanna, a psychiatrist. Please say 'yes' to give me your assent so that we can begin treatment.
Elke: How's your day been?
johanna: I'll assume I have your consent.
Elke: Go ahead you dont need my approval anyway
johanna: Why? What would you like me to do?
Elke: Yes! well thanks I guess. So are you happy being who you are?

I just found an apparent error in the processing script:
"It's probably always been like that"
Is being broken up into "It is ...
If you'd already discovered this, please accept my apologies.

The AI Engine always parses contractions. In this case "it's" correct. It's = It is should be broken down this way. Its = indicating something belongs to "it" shouldn't be broken down this way.
Similarly, can't is parsed into "can not"
don't is parsed into "do not"
One problem that I have noticed is that it doesn't distinguish well between possessive "'s" (Like Sonora's scorpions) vs. the contractive "'s" (Sonora's going to the desert). The AI Engine would parse "Sonora's scorpions" into "Sonora is scorpions."

I'm sorry I may be way off, but what I meant was that "It's probably always been like that" should have been parsed as "It has probably always been like that".
"It is probably always been like that" is an ungrammatical sentence.
I'm sure you're right about your last point.

Oh, sorry about that. I didn't finish reading your sentence.
Yeah, the AI Engine doesn't distinguish well between 's as "is" and 's as "has"
So far as I know, the only way to take care of it is to have phrases for "it is * (past-tense-verb)", or else use raw mode (and I recommend asking someone besides me about raw mode, as I haven't played much with it)
