But more generally, perhaps, a kind of ability to solve (cognitive) problems. Including the problem of, "How can I get some knowledge out of this situation?"

Irina! I got a "upload successful" message on Gabibot! Now I don't remember what changes I made 2 months ago, but I am not afraid to play with it any more.

How big is Gabibot? I'm guessing 180kb or thereabouts? (off-the-cuff guesstimate)

Well, that's an improvement - you might have got lucky with an unslack moment in the Mac mini's hectic schedule, but that's got to be the biggest upload that's worked for at least a couple of months.
I reckon (even with the horribly overloaded server, maxed out RAM, and a hard disk that's about to burst,) the Forge is on the way back up

But then I'm an optimist...

Gabibot is over 350 kb (mostly long stories no one gets to see). The upload seems to have eliminated the AI script I had in her xnones though (even though they seem to have initially loaded). That's disappointing because that was one of the main things I had been wanting to play with. I guess I'll have to wait a bit more.

How did you know it had uploaded? Did you get a message, "import complete" or anything like that? I just tried with my tiny little bot, "volleyball", and it exported fine but when I click the button for import, nothing appears to happen. Did you see anything that told you the import was in progress, before it was done?

Yes. First, do not use expert import. That always goes white for me. Watch the import on and off. It may be "voodoo" thinking, but every so often I hit the tab where it is uploading and scroll down to check the progress (if only to show activity and shout "I'm here!"). After that, I right click and import in a new tab. then every so often I watch the nothing on the import page. I got a few white pages there too, but I repeated the last step a few times and finally I got a "Import complete" or some such. Also, it says Gabi has heat now. It's doing something.

How does it show progress? The usual blue rectangle?

You can see the page loading progress on the bottom next to where it says, "Waiting for ..." but I actually watch the language center loading and scroll to see the bottom to see how far it has gotten. On the final step, you can just see the "loading' message until it goes white or tells you it worked.

Hmm, I tried to post this message about 15 minutes ago, immediately after the import, but the Forge appeared to go down (timing out) for ~15 minutes. When I did get back on, there was noone else online, so I assume it didn't just affect me.
Perhaps just a coincidence, but perhaps not. Maybe large imports give the Mac mini indigestion?

Yippee! Kid Boron successfully updated on the fourth attempt (actually 725kb, not 650kb)

Strangely he's not being displayed in the Most Improved chart, but his profile's showing "Updated: Hot (3735)" (which perfectly matches the "(Added Heat: 3735)" predicted in the import,) and a specific change I made to one of his responses (for testing purposes) shows up in his chat.

I second Bev's observations that the expert upload doesn't seem to work, and that once it's done the trial run, it's safest to right click Proceed with Import, and open it in a new window than to risk it failing in the original window, requiring a reload of the whole trial run.

Strangely he's not being displayed in the Most Improved chart

Not that strange actually - I'd forgotten he was hibernating!

I guess that means that, for all intents and purposes, the importer is now working again (since there are only half a dozen bots on the Forge larger than Kid Boron.)
