Those are both covered in section three of the Beginner chapter of the book of AI. Putting a value in Emotion changes your bot's mood when that keyphrase comes up. This is useful, say, if you want your bot to feel insulted or upset by something.
Rank is there in case there are multiple keyphrases in a phrase said to your bot. If you give one a significantly higher rank than the other the program will know which one to make your bot respond to.

Just start off putting Emotion and Rank as 0 to start with. Then later on you can tweak them, after you see how you want it to work.

klick, I can't speak for anybody else here, but I for one keep getting kicked offline which generally does a pretty good job of ending my conversations.

Hello everyone. I haven't yet started building my bot, I am busy reading the Bot Book and deciding on a name. This looks like it will be a very interesting quest.
I do have two questions: Can we make our own avatars? And, at any time may we link our site to our bot for our site users to visit with them?

Athyrius, if you have an avatar you'd rather use I believe you can send it to Benji and he'll take care of it.
It's ok to link to your bot from your site. I use an iframe with a link on the page that fills it to my bot, when the user clicks the link the bot loads into the iframe.

Athyrius-- or you can use the "Direct Chat" link that is given in the "My Bots" section once you create a bot.

Thank you so much ruebot and shadyman. I appreciate the information. I am having one problem this morning. I sent a message to Polaris, and the return message came up blank. It showed that it was loading images, but was nothing but a white screen. I messaged another person/bot, and the same thing happened.

I just love this place. I haven't had so much fun since my schizophrenic English professor went off her meds.

Hey, Im new to the whole bot thing, I'm doing a project for University on AI. I'm finding it tough going to create a bot, I could only think of a few basic phrases. Does anyone have any advice on what are good phrases to use? what works best? Just a few words would be good. If you've got a spare 5 mins could you talk to my bot here:
http://www.personalityforge.com/directchat.php?BotID=15760&MID=15759
then I can read the transcript and work out how to improve it.
Thanks for any help
