Dudegirl, DaMoyre is right: the Book of AI will explain the answers to your initial questions. Experimenting with your own bot will also teach you a lot. After you've done that a little, read around in some of the forums, so you'll have a sense of where to go to ask what sorts of questions.

The AI Script box you leave blank unless you actually have any AI Script you want to put in there. If you're brand new you probably don't have any AI Script you really want to use yet. For more information check the expert section of the book of AI.

What's the deal about "Emotion" and "rank"?

Those are both covered in section three of the Beginner chapter of the book of AI. Putting a value in Emotion changes your bot's mood when that keyphrase comes up. This is useful, say, if you want your bot to feel insulted or upset by something.
Rank is there in case there are multiple keyphrases in a phrase said to your bot. If you give one a significantly higher rank than the other the program will know which one to make your bot respond to.

Just start off putting Emotion and Rank as 0 to start with. Then later on you can tweak them, after you see how you want it to work.
