See? Once non PF bots start logging in, there's trouble. Maybe I'll hit the report on old Bill for what it's worth.

It may comfort you to know that that happens to all of us!
E.g., I introduce some new keyphrase with variables in it, and it matches things I hadn't thought of, with bizarre results. English grammar is so complex that it's terribly difficult to anticipate everything.

You're welcome! I would add, however, that this problem is not special to the Forge. To my knowledge, no one has ever made a computer program that did a good job with English or any other natural language.

It was apparently down for a day or two (I hope that didn't coincide with any CBC judging
)
I emailed the Prof yesterday and he seems to have fixed it.
But it's still Cockney Day. Bot holidays are completely indestructible, it seems!

I am hping it was down because the Professor has been working on it, and that his work will soon bear fruit; in particular, that he will fix the upload, so that the huge amount of work I have done on 3 or 4 bots at home will finally manifest itself in action!

Breakthrough! PF Gains Increased Speed and Stability
I've been busy and finally made a breakthrough in the way the Personality Forge interfaces with Link Grammar. Thanks to the great work of Ioan Moldovan, I was able to scrap the old memory-leaking buggy Perl interface with a slick new C-compiled interface which on initial testing has sped up response time in chats by 3x-15x previous speeds. Not only that, but the Personality Forge can now run on Windows and Linux, opening up new possibilities for development.

PF Dedicated Server Fund Drive
The server and internet connection the Personality Forge is running on is sorely in need of an upgrade. It's speed and responsiveness is being affected by limited RAM, processor power, and hard drive space. You can help us reach that goal by making a donation. Thanks to those who have already donated!

Hooray! The Forge server drive has (very nearly) reached $500. But, come on guys - we need more! Dig deep, and remember how much this place means to us all - we can get it not just back to the functionality we had a year or so ago, but better than it's ever been, if we can just get this server upgrade sorted.
If you haven't sent the Prof a donation yet, please send one now. If you have already, and have been/will be paid at the end of this month, consider sending the Prof a little more now you have some more disposable income to dispose of (what the hell better is there to spend it on anyway?)
If you haven't got PayPal, sign up now, and send your donation. Or email the Prof and get an address to mail a check to - there's no excuse.
We've got over 30,000 users on the Forge - if they all sent a nickel, it would make the target! (OK, I know a lot of that total are Leeds kids, so don't send the Prof a nickel - at least send him the price of a round of drinks that will give you a lot less enjoyment than this place does day in and day out!)
It really won't take many of us to chip in to make the Forge better than it's ever been.
