how to bloat yourself so you look really big.
Father Peter's bearded dragons do this by attempting to eat their own body weight in locusts daily. Given the chance, they would apparently choose to be roughly spherical, like little spiky space-hoppers.
I think being roughly spherical is the perfect goal
It would certainly make it hard for a predator to swallow them, but I think they'd tend to roll off their rock if a breeze came along while they were sunbathing.

I think being roughly spherical is the perfect goal..locusts are not high on my list, not even when they are chocolate coated.
