Hello kevdog, hi DJ Viper! And hi everybody else!
I'm very new here myself, and I was wondering whether, and if so, how, it's possible to create your own memory variables for your bots... eg I want to make my bot remember how much he trusts his conversationalist, and stuff like that. I'm reading the Book of AI and it gives me some idea, but I'm not too sure about it. It'd be great if anyone could help me with this!
Thanks in advance!
Vincent

Let me just add that I've tried this a bit more and I've seen how you can create and alter variables (memories) your bot stores with specific conversationalists, but I haven't seen a way to create numeric memories, so that they can be increased or decreased by a certain amount. For example, if I default "0" as "trust", and later tell my bot to remember "(mem-trust)+1" as "trust" or "(mem-trust+1)" as "trust", I get (respectively) "0+1" and "(mem-trust+1)" as the values for the memory "trust", when I really want it to just become "1". Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks again in advance,
Vincent

Hi Vincent, welcome to The Forge; your question (which unfortunately I don't have the answer to...) may get a quicker response in the "A.I. Engine" subforum. There are a lot of smart people here, and one troll with many usernames. Right, DJ Viper?
Again, welcome Vincent!

First, if you're going to address me, spell my name right;
second, do not address me. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you.
You may need my attention, but I have no use for you. Had a rough life? I Don't care. Daddy doesn't show you love? I Don't care.
You come here daily, insulting new users and regulars alike~~ that, I care about. Your rudeness is uncalled for. Stop.

Thanks for your reply, SubliminaLiar, and for the welcome as well! I noticed that forum shortly after I posted here, so I'm sorry about that. I'll take my question there, then.
